Picking between 2 lights for booth in kitchen help me choose
Comments (37)Hi Wantakitchen. Here is that light. It's a beauty... Pristine Lighting Fixture Tapestry 3 Light Pendant NEW The urls are so long you may just want to search on the title, but here is the url anyway. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pristine-Lighting-Fixture-Tapestry-3-Light-Pendant-NEW_W0QQitemZ110207420747QQihZ001QQcategoryZ29510QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You might also want to look on eBay following this path: Home> Buy> Home & Garden> Lamps, Lighting, Ceiling Fans> Chandeliers> 12-22". You have 433 entries from which to choose. :-) Here is a link that might be useful: Chandeliers 12-22...See MorePlease help me choose an island for my kitchen...choices inside.
Comments (65)Thundersweet, The oringinal pictures of the islands shows the "farmhouse island" in red with a dark butcher block top! And there is also a cool little red stool behind it. Anyway, if you have red throughout your house plus red appliances it seems you like a little bling here and there. You would want a real dark red, maybe with a black glaze or wash over it so it doesn't overpower the space. It could just add that right amount of "spice". However, your style is clean and simple, Amish like, very nice and comforting, so I can see the Pasons island fitting in very well with your style. Now you gotta ask yourself, do you want to keep the kitchen style as is or do you wanna add some bling? But here's the thing, it's a painted finish so either way you go it can always be painted another color!...See MorePLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE BETWEEN WOOD AND PORCELAIN IN KITCHEN!
Comments (15)Debbi nailed it - if you don't have somewhere where a distinct change in the flooring materials makes sense, then it will look odd. The inside wall with the wall ovens and cabinets extends further into your living space than the cabinets on the outside wall do - so no, it doesn't line up. Quarter sawn white oak with a walnut stain should be reasonably sturdy; it's considerably harder than walnut. It will get the odd dent when things get dropped etc. but the good thing about oak is that the grain will tend to help hide blemishes. We have maple in our house, including the kitchen, and yeah - after a year, there are some dings. But it's warmer, easier on your feet and will make your main floor flow nicely. Note: the most important thing you can do to protect your floors from damage is take your outdoor shoes OFF in the house. (not looking to open that silly shoes off/shoes on debate from a philosophical view again - but grit and dirt from outdoors is the enemy of hardwood flooring.) We wear slippers in the house. And my kitchen floor is just as clean as any tile floor - it's natural maple, so it's pretty obvious when it needs mopping. I don't think tile is intrinsically any cleaner than hardwood. ;)...See MorePlease help me choose countertops for my kitchen!
Comments (51)bumping this back up because we have opted to go with granite- originally, we were going to get what we thought was a quartzite, but we think it is actually marble and the fabricator was selling it as "qualtcite" trying to pass it off. We tested the sample and it etched almost immediately. We looked at quartz options, and both of us like the patterns, but they are all very dull and lifeless and flat to us. Which led us to going with granite because that is most affordable. However, the granite I chose is, of course, one of the most expensive ones out there... Pitaya White. Husband wants me to consider Colonial White Granite as it was recommended as a cheaper option by the fabricator we are now going with. There is a $1200 difference so of course the husband wants me to consider it. We are also going to likely pull the mosaic backsplash and just do a super neutral grayish white backsplash that will have a little dimension (hopefully) We went to the Triton to look at slabs and that is where we chose the Pitaya. We both LOVED it. They didn't have any colonial white at the time so we haven't seen it in person. In all of the pictures I've seen online, there is a TON of variance in all of the different slabs!! Any suggestions? Thoughts? Anyone have colonial white?...See Morelanikaicoconut
