Comments (17)Have you visited a lighting store? I'm sure they would be more than excited to help you with the dimensions and everything. I would be too excited! I would be running to the store with my house plans and pictures. LOL I know you stated that chains are a concern of yours, but when I first looked at the Sater pictures, I didn't notice the chains. Both the Cataldi and the Sterling Oaks chandeliers compliment each room and they both look very delicate and tasteful to me. Perhaps when you have your room completed it will all flow nicely for you. Actually, and I could be wrong, but it seems as though those chandeliers are hung almost 'center' of the room or slightly above center. If you were to suspend a line from the ceiling to floor, and from each four walls and have the lines intersect center point of the room, it appears as though this is the point at which the (bottom) tip of the chandeliers are hung. Just my two cents....See MoreTotally FABulous or tacky as hell??
Comments (29)I don't think the bed would work very well as a stand alone piece. Actually I don't think the room would work very well as a stand alone room. In other words, I think this is a style to which you would have to completely commit, and being close to the New Jersey real estate market I see a lot of houses decorated like this from attic to basement. It's not my particular style but I think if it's consistent throughout it makes a certain statement. But as an isolated piece of "bling", not so much. It would look a bit silly if the rest of the room or the house were more "normal" furniture. I think you can *sometimes* get away with it in a bedroom that no one really sees. But that goes back to committing to at least a whole room (and bathroom if attached). Although the small amount of "bling" in a more typically furnished room is really hot right now, it's a look I hate, so I am biased. I even hate the b---- word and have to use it in quotes. So, MAYbe, if you commit to a whole room...and then only if you Don't care if it's "tacky as hell" because that's what some people will think. But I'd vote for fully committed to "tacky as hell" for a whole room before I would vote for just the bed. If I saw a room with just the bed and the rest was typically furnished, I would think that the bed was a gift, a curbside find, or a mistake....See MoreIs this light fixture tacky? Comments (21)The are of high quality, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant the premium price. One of the things that I don't understand about Holtkotter is that fixtures that look similar to each other will be widely different in price. There are a couple companies out there that have really unbelievably high prices on many of their fixtures (routinely in the thousands) and it's because they are small companies, everything is hand built and there is a high level of customization, but I think that this particular company is a fairly large volume company. There are lots of prices I can't explain. (I'm discussing this in another thread, a simple brass edge pull where pricing Starts at $113--and I understand the factors that play into it, but still---why? And then, who buys them?)...See MoreAntler chandelier over tub?
Comments (48)Very interesting thought, Cindy. That could be super cool - even if I found a way to somehow just sit it up there to display. Although the thought of HOW to get it up there makes me queasy. (Thought I'd pass out a couple of times after I climbed the ladder up into that space. I have discovered that I do not like heights!)...See MoreRelated Professionals
