Wood accent wall/mantle advice
Comments (26)Katie, many people have spent the time to give you help here. many suggestions, pictures, even advising you on decor on the mantle. did you happen to see any of that? talk about being kind? how about, "hey, for those of you that had constructive criticism and took the time to offer suggestions, thank you". That's being kind. Mother would be proud. Remember, if you post something on a public forum and ask for advice, you have to take the good w/the bad. You have eight different people on here that don't think it looks quite right. that should tell you something. But as long you like it, great! we were just advising you on how it would look better. be thankful for the free advice you got. You obviously didn't get thicker skin from Santa this year....See MoreColor help to compliment the wood accent wall!
Comments (8)Hi Natalia! It looks like the grey carpet has a very strong blue undertone (which is probably why they went with the blue wallpaper so that it had something to relate to) but the problem is, is that no matter what color you paint the other wall, neither of the two (paneling or painted wall) will work cohesively with the carpet. Can you replace the carpet? If not, I would suggest working with a green beige for the wall (since the paneling looks like it has a green undertone to it) Benjamin Moore's Manchester Tan HC-81 would be perfect, and putting in a creamy colored area rug that will at least hide most of the blue carpet. Comments (9)You sounded uncertain about the colors you had selected, related to the cool tones. So it seems the balance might be easier to work out once you have the paint on the large expanse of cabinets to balance the cool tones of the other large pieces. For example, you might end up concluding that the problem with the colors you originally identified is that they are too dark, not that they go too far to the warm spectrum....See Morehow to choose white accent wall in wood wall/ceiling house
Comments (26)if you really love grey, go for it. but I really think that grey toned hardwood floors will never work with a warm toned ceiling. so mockup #6 would be the best bet. what's giving me pause is how it looks against that one wood accent wall. it's so hard to tell how it's really going to look in real life. DIY software is helpful for narrowing ideas down, but it's never going to get the color exactly right. note: I'm not an interior designer. I'm a graphic designer with a good eye. I can help people with ideas and examples when they feel stuck, but by no means am I qualified to make strong recommendations. you have some really big decisions here, and you might want to hire a pro for this! if anything, they can do mockups that are much more realistic so you can get a better sense of the outcome....See MoreRelated Professionals
