Of course, when don't sales people say what works for them? You're right about the track. RunnerGirl, I've also lived with no-good apartment sliding glass doors, but these were not the same -- perhaps that's why they've "upped" the name -- they want to separate them in our minds. My mom agrees, and we're both excited to see how these doors work in her house. As for sizes, you'll have to do the math yourself -- after you're sure of your wall sizes. No one choice is going to be right for every house. Bottom line for me: When I went shopping with my mom, I wasn't prepared to be so wowed by these doors. I thought the choices were old-fashioned sliding glass doors or inefficient French doors. These new doors seem to have the best of both options, while removing some of their problems. I'd recommend that any home buyer give them a look before making a decision.

If they are the plastipro Doors where the glass is set with no moulding, they look great. If they have the big chunky plastic moulding where the glass meets the door they look terrible- two very different looks. This is the plastipro in my house. As you can see the finish is quite good. If you are building with little overhang I would not do wood.

I would call in another Marvin Dealer as if you were starting from scratch. Have them come in for a consult and a second estimate. Ask the question and see what he/she says. Even if you’re happy with the first dealer, dealers can charge differently so at least you’ll have something to compare apples to apples with. I actually have two appointments scheduled for Sunrise windows next week, but I’m not actually sure which dealer I’ll end up with. I have to say though both my mother and my sister had the french doors installed. They weren’t Marvins but they were extremely happy with that style.
