Where to hang sculpture above fireplace?
Comments (16)Thanks for all the responses. Before I bought the piece I did a mock up and it seemed OK then. Now it seems too small and floating. I will give it more thought. My husband thinks we should get something else to add to the wall/space. Hilltop - thanks for the mock up! I'm so impressed that you could do it so fast and well! I have an extra set (or two) of fp tools that I was going to give on freecycle but I could use it here instead. The house now has 11 fp and I have a lot of extra "stuff" for them. yayagal - The artist Rock Richardson from New Mexico normally does nudes but our local shop carried this piece. Rock's website is linked below. Also some of his other pieces are on a stand - this one though was hanging on the wall. blondepegasus - we've been in the house for 13 years and believe it has good karma. The original owner lived past 100 and we bought it as an estate sale where the owner lived into his late 90's. This is our "forever" house. I have a few interesting stories. This house has been wonderful to us. Here is a link that might be useful: Pewter by Rock...See MoreHanging sconces above fireplace
Comments (20)You are very welcome rjinga. I only used Paint which comes with windows for your virtual. It's easier to use for simple things like moving something around. If you want to change color and have the items shadings show through you can't do it with paint. Well not the version I have with Windows Vista anyway. I'm curious if there will be any changes to it on Windows Seven. Seems a friend that's son has it said there were some good changes. My cold is causing my brain to freeze up right now. Not to mention my hubby at the last of the cream pumpkin cake a friend made for us since I've been designing her kitchen. I never bake so it's nice getting "paid" this way! Comments (42)As someone with a home that also has a lot of big white walls to fill, please do take your time with this. I know it's tempting to just fill the walls with anything. But patience pays off. We've found it helpful to work with a local art gallery. They pick out art they think will work for our space and our budget, and loan it to us so we can "try it on for size" for awhile. Or if you're more creatively inclined check out toats' threads -- and make your own art!...See MoreWhere do I hang a new mirror in my asymmetrical foyer?
Comments (7)Thanks acm. That is partly why I put a shoe basket to the right, and I was thinking about an umbrella stand for the left corner! There is adequate space for one. decoenthusiaste, I guess I messed that one up. In all my searching for mirrors, I didn't come across any info. that specified 75%. I was trying use a larger decorative element, since in the past I've gone too small. I can't return the mirror at this point, so will have to see how it looks. It's a family home, so I strive for better, but not perfect. I do appreciate the info. though. :)...See Morelisaam
