What is your most versatile decorating accessory?
Comments (12)Hard to choose just one as there are so many decorative items I use and love but my various silver accessories are always in use. I've collected mostly silver plated holloware but a few sterling candle holders for years and have a lot. I use the small plates as coasters, the various trays for vignettes, the large trays for serving, and have even hung medium size trays on the wall in a grouping. Here are 3 items (pic taken to show my yard sale finds one day). I think each of these items was $5 proving that cost is not the important factor in beauty or versatility....See MoreWhat is the most you will spend on a decorative pot or planter?
Comments (19)I like collecting tins and using them as planters, you can usually find deeper ones for anywhere from a quarter to a dollar at thrift stores, and if it's for a shallow rooted plant I'll use regular cookie tins and sand off the nutritional information. As counterintuitive as it seems my aloe vera plants seem to go crazy for tins without drainage holes (although I have to replace the tins every couple years due to rust). I also keep a look out for unglazed clay containers at yardsales I really live finding decorative catchalls that can work, and I horde glass jars for my herbs and pothos plants (I'm going to be honest, it's at the point where I buy foodstuffs based on their packaging)....See MoreMost recent decor purchase for your home?
Comments (42)This pair of fantastic Milo Baughman lounge chairs from chairish. I have a single of the same chair that I picked up years ago for cheap ($350) and our new house was crying out for a pair. I've been looking for years but didn't want to pay the newly inflated prices of recent years as mid mo has gotten so hot. This pair was reasonably priced so I decided to get both and paid $1500. They were sold with a vile red 90s cheap fabric so I was planning on new fabric, but when I got them home and tore off the fabric, I got to the fantastic original mustard velvet and original Thayer coggin tags. Which was a total and welcome surprise. This color works so well in our mid century home. Unfortunately the velvet is in bad condition.... so I'll still be refinishing. Still a good deal as restoration hardware has just reissued a bunch of almost the same style baughman chairs for about $4000 each. But I love a good refinishing project:)...See MoreVery difficult time figuring out how to decorate new place
Comments (33)I like simple art, and art I have tried. "At first you might not think you are an artist, but you will be surprised what you can come up with after some practice. Find a large, pre-stretched canvas at a thrift store, buy Oops paint from your local hardware store and experiment with different brush strokes. You might come up with a modern masterpiece." --------------------------- I'd try tape on that wall, to estimate sizes to buy - maybe 2 on each side hung vertically, with top edges a bit above top of laundry opening, not too perfect here....See Moredaisiesandbutterflies
