Comments (2)hsw Love that fabric - you are on to something indeed - I would choose my wall color before having the custom shower curtain made - So many beautiful colors to choose from. ALso, what type of sink/vanity will you have? Vision - A brown or black vanity, the teal (light) or an earthy color (like top of the bulb) I searched for some possible colors on Devine paint (link below Medallion (espresso blends chart) Brick (Mesa lights) - earthy but has pink undertone Dust (mesa lights), Terra cotta (mesa) From Ocean tidepool - *picking up teal* breeze, reflection If you use the teals for wall color I would do an espresso vanity (like the bulb itself) - Have the shower curtain background the top of bulb color - light earthy one, have the window treatment with some type of edging gimp or ? - that includes hints of pink & burgundy A few pink accents - perhaps some nice botanical prints - if you are using chrome - a nice silver toned frame Botanical prints http://www.chartingnature.com/orchid-prints.cfm And some vintage bottles http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Blue-Glass-Bottle%3a-Whitaker-%26-Co_W0QQitemZ320278417769QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24255876 Ok - I'm done Good luck! Comments (18)Lyban, those came from Country Curtains, were quite inexpensive, and had pulleys with lock stops at the top corner for the pull cords, so although they had a little weight, they went up and down very easily. Also, because they were bamboo slats rather than matchsticks, they did darken the room considerably, but not completely. Mine were not lined. Hanging them at the top, on the outside of the frames, meant that they didn't have to be precisely the same width as the windows...they were actually about an inch past the window frame under the curtains. Fabric ones can be light or heavy, depending on the fabric itself, and the lining. I had lined fabric shades made from a heavy cotton with a contrasting border for my library, and they were actually a bit harder to get up and down....See MoreWhere to buy roman shades (non custom)
Comments (6)I would think they'd be rather easy to hem shorter. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, you might stop by a local tailor or seamstress and ask what they'd charge. I bet it would be MUCH less than anything custom. If you don't know any seamstresses, your local fabric shop probably has some recommendations. Good luck!...See MoreWhat do you think of this fabric for a roman shade?
Comments (35)Plllog - White, non-billowy fabric. Check. I googled Feverfew - what a lovely flower! McRaney - Great idea. I need to find out if they even offer it in Canada first. Remodelfla - Something about your post reminds me of my DH when he suggests design things! He says "What if we did this colour...this could be a rotten idea, mind you." LOL. The grouping of plates is a neat idea that I've seen work well on walls. I'll keep my options open! Either way, I'll have to incorporate brown transferware somehow into my life since I'm hooked on looking at it (thanks to Rubyfig!). You are so sweet with your comments, thank you. Beekeeperswife - We can't remove the valance because there's a pipe thingy that goes down. That's why we boxed it out and put the valance; to hide the pipe. I know what you mean about the greys. Just today I got a twinge of "Maybe I should have done a grey sofa instead of a beige neutral one". Same thing with the kitchen chairs and curtains. But then I'd worry about it being too cool, too chic, unapproachable, uncozy. I'm 100% happy with the paint choice though. A warm grey would work, but a cool grey...not for a kitchen IMHO. For a dining room or bedroom? Heck yeah. But for a kitchen, something warm and appetizing works best. And having silver accents just works with the neutral anyway. I know, there's something so decadent about the BA that just begs for silver anything. That vase and tray that you're describing sounds wonderful...how decadent are we? Oils on a silver tray? Just fab. No, I've never dreamt about my kitchen though. That's kind of fun that you do! Rosie - Ooo..I'll keep on the lookout on eBay! I looked at old pics of the open shelving and the layout and objects just was terrible. So it's been fun seeing it evolve, especially with help from Gw-ers who are just as detail oriented as I!!...See More- 4 years ago
