Comments (12)This is from a Daylily site: Ploidity: There are basically two type of Daylilies. Tetraploids & Diploids. I have no intention to get into all the scientific Mumbo jumbo of their difference, Basically the difference is in the number of chromosomes each type possesses. Tetraploids contain 44 chromosomes and Diploids contain 22 chromosomes. Tetraploid Daylilies have been heralded by hybridizers as having significant advantages over Diploids. Tetraploids tend to exhibit larger blooms, more intense color, sturdier scapes and heavier substance in both the bloom and foliage. The leaf, stem and blooms exhibit greater vigor and vitality. It took 35 years of struggle in the face of skepticism for the promised potential superiority of the tetraploid to emerge from it predecessor, The Diploid. Many of the Hybridizers who made today's hybrids possible did not live to see there vision vindicated. The greater number of chromosomes contained in Tetraploids greatly increases the possibilities of of future crosses today. Today there is a chemical process which one can actually convert Diploids into Tetraploids. Any former Diploids Cultivar names listed in our Daylily Database is preceded by the word "Tetra" i.e. "Tetra Becky Lynn" etc. Any siblings produced by these converted Cultivars will be Tetraploids. Tetraploids and Diploids are not normally compatible in terms of cross pollinating. I have crossed Tetraploids and Diploids successfully but is an exception to the rule and is rare. The seller usually pays the realtor so I am not sure how the bank can get involved. An attorney for a few hundred dollars may be helpful but more importantly is to get a good inspector and general contractor to see what the problems are and how much it may cost to fix them....See MoreHelp Me Make A Quick/Easy GOOD Dessert!?
Comments (22)Sandy, here's one that we love, and it takes about 10 minutes at the most to make. CHERRY DESSERT 1 cup flour 1/2 cup butter, softened (room temp) 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup oatmeal (raw oats) 1 can cherry pie filling Cut butter into flour and brown sugar until crumbly. Add oatmeal and combine. Put half of this in bottom of 8" square pan and pat down. Spread cherry pie filling over top of this. Sprinkle remaining crumbs on top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Can double recipe and use 9x13 baking dish. I have made Casey's dessert and it is very good and oh so easy. But I just use regular milk, not chocolate, to dip the cookies in. I don't think you would be able to tell any difference, and there's no need to have the added expense of chocolate milk, unless you have some on hand. I actually think you could dip them in water! The idea is to moisten the cookies, and the taste comes from the cookies and whipped topping. Also, I put it in a 9x13 pan, layering it about 3 cookies high. Whenever I see Chips Ahoy and Cool Whip both on sale, I know it's time to make that dessert. It doesn't sound particularly good, but tastes great!...See MoreUgh, can this just stop!!! Please!?!?!
Comments (27)I took her to the orthopedic today. She won't need surgery, she will be in a sling and also use an ace bandage wrapped around her body at night to immobilize her arm. She has been in a good mood all day and hasn't complained of any pain so that part is great. However, he said it would take 6 weeks to heal and I need to keep her restricted for that entire time. Keep a 3 year old restricted...so funny! No swimming which will be hard as we have a pool and swim every single day. Also, she's left handed...with her left arm in a sling. Raven- his eye is a long story but I'll try to summarize. In December 2012, he was working in the shop when a piece of wood flew up and hit his eye. His actual eyeball was bleeding, not profusely but there was blood. Goes to the doctor, gets eyedrops, it heals fine. Less than a year later, he develops a cataract in that eye. A nasty big one that required 2 surgeries to fix. Now, his retina detaches. All of it is due to the initial trauma in 2012. Thanks everyone for letting me vent....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
