Shark Steam Mop...what am I doing wrong?
Comments (42)I've had my mop since Fall '07 and liked it a lot. Last week it stopped producing steam, even though the power was still on. I called and a man told me to refill it 2-3 times slowly and pump the mop, what kind of water was I using, was the pad wet or dry? The trick didn't work. When I called back today another man said I'd have to ship it in for repair, $17+ and $10 for shipping. Or I could have a new mop for $39.95 plus shipping. I told him I haven't even had this 2 years, why would I trust them to fix it or buy a new one? He had no other solutions for me. I paid $100 for a freakin mop, I'm not about to pay more for shipping/repair/replacement!...See MoreHoover Floormate, Shark Mop/canister or Bissell Steam Mop
Comments (6)There are many large posts here about the benefits of each of the products you mentioned. If you do a search, you find lots of good info and reviews from people who use them everyday. I will say, however, that there don't seem to be many people who use the shark/euro-pro canister steam mop. That is what I have. I got it from Lowe's for $99. It is NOT the same type of appliance as the bissell or the shark mop. Those are "stick" type mops. The shark canister looks like a small canister vacuum. It holds enough water to steam for about 45 minutes. I also have a new large home and lots of tile. I would recommend that you make sure that your grout is sealed properly. That will ease alot of worries. I have several large areas of tile, and I can mop pretty much everything without having to refill (and wait 15 minutes for it to heat up). So basically, I'd say I can mop everything in much less than an hour. It's ALOT less strenuous than conventional mopping. It doesn't use chemicals, either. I never noticed how much that smell bothered me until I quit using lots of cleaning chemicals! It seems to do a VERY good job cleaning the tile. Of course, you still have to sweep first, but I just use a large dust mop and that doesn't take but just a few minutes. The shark also has attachments that are good for cleaning the crevices around toilet seats, corners, etc. There's ALOT of things you can use it for. I haven't had much luck with mirrors, for some reason, though. The only downfall I have with my steam mop is that it only comes with one microfiber pocket (you can flip it over and use both sides). But I use 2-3 when I clean my whole house. I had to order an extra pack from the company and it took 12 weeks to come in. You will DEFINATELY need a couple of packs to do your house. Hope that answers your questions. Good luck....See MoreAnyone use the Shark Steam Blaster?
Comments (2)Hi Tracy, I was going to buy the Steam Blaster too, for the same reason -why buy two products when one will do the trick? But then Reeree made a great point -will I want to haul out this whole unit every time I want to do a quick wipe of the floor? And for me, I decided, no, I want something quicker and easier. We have a white tile floor in the kitchen and it could use a mopping every day. For the same reason that I don't like hauling the vacuum out all the time, I know I wouldn't want to haul the Steam Blaster out. It just seems so much easier to grab a quick steam mop and go to town with that. So I ended up buying the handheld Scunci steamer, which works very well. And I'm awaiting my Bissell floor steam mop... Lynn...See Moremore on shark steam mop
Comments (25)I needed a steam cleaner/mop...so i got both. I think i got my Shark steam mop at target...or some similar retailer. Mine did not come with the carpet attachment. It's pretty flimzy plastic...i could break it by twisting my wrist too much while cleaning...but otherwise i think it delivers. You have to wait for it to heat up...then VIGOROUSLY ram it up and down to build up some steam....then go at it. I use it for linolium kitchen floors. It spits a little...leaves some watery spots...but i don't see these as a finishing tool...more about cleaning....which it does VERY VERY well...while sanitizing. Its a no brainer...and worth the money...but don't kid yourself...its a piece of cheap plastic sold on an infomercial. Steam cleaning is essential...i recommend investing in a pro cleaner as well. Good Luck to you....See MoreK R
