In my experience moss will not grow well indoors. It can grow in a greenhouse, but not in a house or apartment. Moss requires moisture, but it also requires a great deal of moving air and good ventilation at the same time, otherwise all that moisture it likes will turn into an environment in which fungus, algae, and bacteria can thrive and kill the moss. This is only my opinion, and my experience, but I think if you grow moss indoors, you might have a good long while with it to watch it grow before it starts to die off, but eventually it will succumb to the conditions of the indoors. Pehaps there are other folks on GW who have had a different experience growing moss indoors.

It seems too good to be true. My kids finally get to see snow. My wife bought a '73 VW Superbeelte from a lady who had moved here from WA state and it came with snow tires. Do you think I need to put them on the car? LOL. Know what you mean about the potted plants I had a bromeliad to bring and I was done. I'll just cover the blueberries and miniature figs and say a little prayer.

I wondered when I saw she said flashing was to be attached with brass screws/nails. I've never seen that. to attach into mortor or brick tap con screws...but for flashing?? didn't sound right to me. the detail posted above shows what I see. flashing into chimeny, not screwed onto chimney..where it would leak. best to get someone on the job to evaluate what is happening. having someone on site to actually see what is going on is better than half descriptions. best of luck

Hi Sandy - and Dean, I saw a Polk Cty., Iowa licence in the TSC parking lot the other day, sought the guy out. He's a res. of Des Moines (I thought probably so). Sue grew up in Des Moines ... her Mom lived in Ankeny when I was involved ('63 on our return from Korea till '71) and her Dad in Tipton. I'm of the opinion that I like to leave the shovelling till the snowing is finished. I know! I know! We have to wash dishes frequently - don't wait till every dish is used! What's that? It's snowing here, too ... but I have little shovelling to do, as landlord does most of it with his tractor. A sod farmer, this is his off-season ... so he's bound for Mexico on Mon. Sometimes I have trouble getting out of the back door, as I must push it with the door if more than about 2" deep - and the wind likes to drop it there in front of the door. The wind whistles through between the porch and the garage at speed - skimmed my new "Merry Christmas" baseball cap off in a trice on Christmas Eve. After dropping packages, went out for a fruitless search, using my new flashlight. Found it in tractor rut on Christmas morning, frozen in, en route to getting a shovel to chop it out, slipped on ice, dropped on my rear in snowbank. Going to Christmas supper, slipped on glare ice on sidewalk in city, fell heavily ... no hurt for a couple of days ... but back still giving me frequent notification of its dissatisfaction with such dastardly treatment. It's improving - some. I see the doc on Thursday ... mainly for the recently initiated swelling on my feet. I'm some disgusted with those feet - surely they could've waited a month ... till past my 80th birthday milestone! o j
