BM color for gender neutral nursery

Looking for a BM paint recommendation for a gender neutral nursery. Attached is a picture the rug I am thinking for the room and the furniture will be white. So far we swatched Edgecomb Gray (maybe), Winds Breath (bottom left-too cold/gray?), and Ballet White (bottom right-too white).. I really thought Winds Breath would be the winner but it’s looking very cold/icy blue gray on the wall. My initial thought was a light warm neutral paint color, but I am open to any and all recommendations! Thanks in advance!

You can't test your swatches on that current yellow wall color! Your perception of the new colors are influenced by that background color.

Prime the walls white and test again.

We have ballet white in our game room and I don’t think it reads ‘too’ white, more warm neutral like you were looking for. It really looks a little beige against our white trim. Now, you and I might have very different definitions of ‘warm neutral’ of course so keep on sampling until you find what you like.

Ps. I agree with above, your current wall color will skew your perception of the sampled colors.

Well congratulations!!!! How exciting for you!!!!! Were you thinking of incorporating a theme on the walls or in the bedding and accessories? I think I might keep the walls simple, and leave your options open for changes at the next birthdays, Christmas, etc. If your grandson falls in love with Thomas the Train for example, you can surprise him with a Thomas quilt one day -but that isn't so easy with the walls being part of the theme. And I can imagine your little granddaughter in about two years, voicing her opinion and wanting horses, or princesses or some such a thing, LOL! But if you do want to do something on the wall, maybe wall decals, which are easily changed out. I've included a link to Etsy, one of my favorite sites, for you to browse.... Have fun!!! I used BM Fondant. I have used pink several times and finally found the perfect subtle pink - not bubble gum pink. Fondant is a soft pink. When the light is on at night it has a lovely pink glow but not over powering. When I put it on one wall it appeared too light. After the fourth wall it was just perfect! Because the color bounces off each other. It is a very subtle pink but pink enough. Take a look at the chip and hold it up to a white one - you might like it. Pinks are tough and I don't want you to wind up with Pepto pink. Good luck!

When I decorated my house, I took my inspiration from textiles I saw in stores. I liked the combination of robin's egg blue, chocolate brown and spring green. My dining room is chocolate brown (with lots of white trim and paneling) with robin's egg blue curtains and chairs. The living room is a muted light blue, with a green sofa, and some dark brown side tables. The kitchen is green. I didn't strictly stick with the color scheme for the kitchen (since it is separated from the other rooms by a hallway), substituting black for brown and using a bit more vivid palette. But the colors all work together. I only know a bit about color theory, but I figure that designers and artists know a lot. So I look for color combinations that I like in things that other people have designed. You may have to tone the colors down a bit for an expanse as large as a wall. In line with what Anenemity said, colors tend to look much more colorful on the wall than on the chip (or on the bedspread or in the painting), simply due to the size and uninterrupted expanse of the wall.

Thanks for responding. I was being purposely vague hoping to get an idea if my son will think this is a 'girly color' !! The new bedding I bought for his room has stripes of that color and some others but is primarily charcoal and light gray. This will be 'revealed' to him at winter break when he comes home. I can buy new bedding if he hates it but I'm not going to repaint so it needs to be versatile. Here is a link that might be useful: New Ikea Bedding

I'd probably pick an actual color for the walls - blue, green, yellow - rather than gray. If you do go with grey or white throw in plenty of color with accents and murals.

Any color you like - there is nothing inherently boy or girl about any color unless you make it so. A pale warm blue-green (tending toward turquoise) can work as a background color for lots of other colors.

Look at Navajo White; it is different across manufacturers (some more yellow undertone, some more green and so forth), but tends to be a complex warm off white that works with many other colors. And remember that if you find a color you love from another manufacturer, BM can probably make a close match.
