Comments (17)Emmachas, Always save things to two places and for important things three or more. Hard drive. Disc. Online hosting service. Email. And some websites will allow you to 'save' things in your profile so you can easily reference things without having to mine your hard drive. Just look in the upper right hand corner of your post and click on the appropriate action; clip this post, email this post....See Morethoughts on concealing TV wiring in a brick fireplace
Comments (5)The top of the mantel should come off and it will have a large hollow area inside. You could run wiring from the shelf on the left over to the mantel and hide that short stretch with wire-mold painted black. Then run the wire through the mantel and over to the area under the TV. If the brick finish is only facing over a pre-fab fireplace you may also be able to drill through from the side and line up with the area under the mantel. I lived in a house built in 1996 and the fireplace was a prefab unit with 2x4 framing and sheetrock, and then they added stone facing. There was very large hollow area around the flue, and you could see it from the attic. It even had an air tube running up to the attic for make-up air for the fireplace insert. FYI - My current mantel has an electrical outlet right on top of the mantel, and two sconce lights mounted about 16 inches above the mantel, but I can't figure out how they ran the wiring through the brick. The house was built in 1940 and that wiring was original to the fireplace. Bruce...See MoreUsing TV mounting hardware to install an adjustable bathroom mirror
Comments (2)We discussed with builder and he likes the solution too. The mirror will stand out from the wall about 4 inches and because of the counter depth of the vanity, the wheelchair user can easily adjust the mirror and also touch the dim button on the surface of the mirror. We decided to hang the mirror vertically because it looks better over the vanity next to an end column of cabinets. This probably makes constant adjustment less necessary for seated vs standing but still, a thoughtful feature for a handi-capable master bathroom....See MoreIdeas to conceal TV outlet that was installed too high?
Comments (19)@Jan Moyer, thank you. I don't think you're crazy. I'm definitely trying to come up with an inexpensive quick fix until we can move the outlet. Honestly, we rarely have guest over that would see this area of the house, so this is more for me. :) Every time I look at that outlet I remember the conversation between hubby, myself, and the electrician when we were picking outlet locations. They both thought it should be high and I finally said, "whatever, you can move it later!" I'm still waiting! LOL! The rug will eventually be replaced. It is a carryover from the old house. When I purchase it I assumed it would be neutral enough to work with anything, but when I made the seat cushions last summer, I quickly learned better. I'll continue to use it until I refinish the wood on the sofa & chair. Once that is complete I'll get a new rug that compliments everything. The dodads in the corner are birdhouses that I stacked there while doing a quick cleanup of the house. I had them strewn across the table while replacing the chains to hang them outside. They will soon make their way to the yard and I'll just have a plant in that corner. @Debbi Washburn, good point. That would definitely be the quickest/easiest route....See MoreRelated Professionals
