How do you know if you are Zone 6a or 6b?
Comments (16)redsox, I had to laugh, I just did the same thing trying to find out if I'm 6 a or b and all the maps were so small I couldn't read any of them. Really someone has to make one of these for people who don't have 20/20 vision. When I put my zip in the second link it said I was 5b and I know that's not right. I'm smack dab in the middle of that zone 6 chip on the southeastern side of MI. Besides I grow a lot of things that would not survive in zone 5 winters. I like Zack's idea. I do know that the back wall of my house is always way warmer than any other place in the yard....See MoreWhen do you know your new home doesn't interest you anymore?
Comments (27)The listing agent cancelled our appointment by email. Our agent let him know, any time is fine. But no answer. ************************************ The pre build approval process has become brutal in many jurisdictions.... I came across the grading plan requirements for a 2008 build--seven items. And they let me draft it myself, instead of insisting on costly surveyors. On my first builds in the '80s--all on infill city lots--as long as you put in swales around the perimeter you were good to go. This build: 50 items to be included. And the city refuses to even look at your building plans till they are satisfied with the grading plan! Oh, also a Tree Protection Plan by a licensed arborist, identifying in excruciating and costly detail every tree on the lot and the neighbouring lots as well. Then you have to fence them off to prevent construction damage....See MoreI believe this is a heuchera. Can you confirm? Do you know the name?
Comments (3)did you mention spin out bags.. and how you arent happy about them??? seems to me.. if you leave them exposed at the top .. they may be wicking moisture out of the soil.. to the depth of the bag ... making it hard on the plants ... i never used them.. so i dont kow if you are supposed to leave the edge exposed .. but it seems that you installed them probably due to trees soaking up all the water ... and now the bags are probably doing the same thing .. maybe we should discuss this in the hosta forum.. where quite a few peeps use them ... ken...See MoreWhat do you know about MDs vs. DOs
Comments (64)To be clear, there are first tier, second tier and third tier medical schools. They do not all ”teach the same thing” or even teach the same way. To pass the medical boards the same knowledge is required, but the passing grade is lower than you would expect (across all specialties, including internal medicine— which is a specialty) because of the sheer volume of information covered. Students who attend top tier medical schools have a higher pass rate. Some boards can be taken multiple times. I personally know a physician who took his boards five times. He was personable and everyone liked him. He went to a decent school. His outcomes were not the best, and obviously none of his patients knew he had failed his written boards four times. When people say ”I have confidence in my doctor” they are really saying they like the doctor and that “confidence” is usually based on nothing more than a friend’s recommendation, not any kind of information or evidence....See Moresheilajoyce_gw
