These two statements can be considered a contradiction depending on your definition of walk-in.

What is your countertop going to be?

There are so many threads on horrible penny tile installs that I shied away from them in my bathroom project. Does your linen look tile have a matching mosaic? I also used a linen look floor tile (Anatolia Tile Crossweave) and it had a nice mosaic with a basket weave effect.

All those grout lines on the shower floor. Will you be cleaning them?

I’m asking because you said you were putting travertine for the curb. IMO all horizontal surfaces should be a solid piece of the countertop material: such as top of curb, top of pony wall, bottom of niche, niche shelf, tub decking, window sills, if you have any of those.

Also, I think it’s a cleaner look to make the shower floor a small sheet mosaic (hex, squares, etc) that is the same as either the bathroom floor or the shower walls.

I’m keeping my existing vanity and counter. Vanity is natural cherry (planning to paint trim white that you see in the pic) and counter is silestone blanco city. It’s been many years but I’m sure I could still find that somewhere and use for the curb. That’s a great thought.

For the shower floor there is linen mosaic that is almost the same. I wasn’t drawn to the squares but it is defiantly option to keep things clean. Pic attached.

I also considered a matte hex or penny tile in a solid color similar to the floor or wall tile colors. Pics below! Let me know what you all think!

The marble look is the odd man out with travertine. Travertine is beige pink based. The tiles you’ve picked are all greige, except for the marble look. It’s WHITE. Look for something with a cream background, like a Calcatta look. Or a Crema Marfil look.

Agree with live wire oak. If you are definitely keeping the vanity and counter, you need to find materials that go nicely with those tones. If you were changing those you could take the color palette in any direction you want, but in this case you need to take the lead from the vanity and counter.

Also agree that the marble look doesn't work.

Live wire oak and HU - I was originally thinking the travertine was the odd man out and having 2nd thoughts on that for the curb. I like the idea of going with the counter, floor or wall tile for the curb so not to introduce a different material.
Would you still suggest I find a different wall material even without the travertine in the mix and going with a solid color shower floor? I believe the wall tiles I picked do come with a cream background too.

If you are leaving your oak trim as is, I think you need to lean warmer in your tile choices.

You are bringing too many colors and finishes into the room. The linen plus speckled plus marble plus penny rounds is too frantic. Eliminate the marble look tile and try to use only two color-coordinated finishes for the flooring, shower floor (penny rounds) and shower walls. The floor can match the shower walls. The white in the penny rounds speaks to the sink counter and toilet. You end up with four colors: wood cabinets, gray linen floor and shower walls, white sink and counter, and multi gray and white pennyround shower floor.

Why are you picking travertine; do you have that anywhere in the bathroom already?

I totally understand the desire to have marble/white/gray in the bathroom. I like cool colors with a little bit of warm wood mixed in. BUT if you keep that countertop, it's not gonna work. You need to lean more warm in you color choices. You could change the countertop if your budget allows, and then turn more cool-toned with your other choices.

I will eliminate the travertine from the mix. It was a suggestion from the tile guy but I had doubts on it from the start.

I will also be painting the oak trim white.

Regarding the counter vanity - not in budget to change it. Ideally I’d swap out the whole vanity - totally get that it is warmer. I could think about painting the vanity but that would be a last resort.

So there were a number of replies saying the marble doesn’t work. Is it the colors or pattern? The pattern is very minimal with some beiges and grey whereas most others I’ve looked at are more grey or gold with more color overall which I thought was too much. This is a ceramic calacutta bianco but there is a calacutta creme too which I will get a sample of.

There wasn’t much feedback on the floor - it is slightly more cool than the counter but has some of the same tones as the flecks in the counter.

Additional pics of counter with tiles ... open to suggestions on other tiles to consider. I just don’t want to go too yellow.

I like the penny tile. It has both warm and cool tones to tie the different surfaces together. Also will have better traction with smaller pieces and more grout. pick a midtone grout for less need to scrub to keep bright. Get good mildew resistant grout and sealant! For aging in place have a little contrast between curb and floor tile so it is easier to see and not trip. Matching the counter or wall tile not the floor would work. The brighter marble look tile will brighter the space. Just find one that has a bit of warm and cool veining to match counters. You will have a bright versatile space that will work with what ever trend replaces grey.

@sweetshome - here are some pics. We still need to put up the baseboard which will be white and get a shade up which will be a woven wood. We ended up going with the linen look tile on the shower floor to match the main tile.

I like the shelf. How did you get the shelf to stay on the wall?

Does the want have pressure better than the round? What brand did you use?

I am thinking of using the penny or one similar to yours. My shower is identical to this space/

What shower head did you use?

If you are set on the linen flooring and the marble shower walls, I would do pennyrounds in one gray color for the shower floor. Your sample looks like it has pink and blue among the tiles and they look odd.

The main shower head is Kohler Forte. It has good pressure. The wand is Kohler too and is great for cleaning the walls as well as showering :-).

We have the Kohler flipside in our other shower which serves as both the main shower head and our handheld and everyone loves it.
