Would you paint these cabinets white?
Comments (32)Igloochic - No, can't say I ever used those products from SW. Perhaps your method works, but it makes me nervous. I learned long ago the benefit of proper prep / application and for longevity and smoothest coat, I can't get past not sanding. In fact, are you saying you don't even clean the wood before putting the primer on (with TSP subsitute or Dirtex) - especially in a kitchen? That would scare me. And the sanding before primer and between coats is not only to help adhesion but also result in the smoothest surface. I guess if it works for you, thats great. But if I was giving someone advice I would tell them to prep and sand between coats (which is what any of the professional's who frequent the painting forum will also recommend) Acountryfarm - Just having used Cabinet Coat - let me say it gives an excellent smooth finish when properly applied (Brushworks aka Michael on the painting forum has some very detailed tips on doing it right). We did our trim and the pantry doors. The doors look like they were factory finished, they are that smooth. The Cabinet Coat paint is self leveling which helps give it a great finish....See MorePaint cabinets white/cream, will it look nice with the bianco granite
Comments (17)Oh my so many suggestions, thanks everyone!! So I agree with the consensus not to paint the cabinets and work on the surroundings. @blfenton and ellendi6161… Sorry for posting in both forums, I thought this forum was a little quiet, but I guess not!!. @lisa_a….I love the Bianco Romano too, was just lucky that it came with the house. The blue backsplash will definitely highlight the countertops. @Amber…I didn’t even notice the hardware, but yes, I agree will look for something. That will be a cheaper upgrade then painting the cabinets. The bar stools I have currently are similar to these. I am planning to use these if they are the right height. I don’t think I want completely white kitchen. @Carrie B….I might look into blue shades, not sure if they are removable, will check. My current décor is a warm mix of orange, browns, red and teal. I have a brown leather sofa, red rug, lampshades, teal curtains etc…All of this is going into our basement. For the new plan, I was thinking pastel walls, cream/baby blue/yellow sofa/sectional with pastel accessories. A natural colored rug/runner. Comments (11)I don't think I'd paint your brick either. With its natural color, it fits so well onto your treed lot, like it has always been there. Understated and classy. I would paint the little bit of siding one of the colors in the brick - there's no reason for it to stand out, looks a little odd to me. I'm not seeing a lot of foot room at the front door for impressive pots. Is there a space over by the birdbath? Or, in Spring, maybe a hanging basket to the left as you approach the front door, that looks like a substantial overhang from which to hang a planter (could be wrong from the angle of the photo regarding how substantial that overhang. Outside of entrance at house front.) Could you put one large impressive pot into the bed to the right of the door, I can't quite see what is planted there. I could envision a sculpture of sorts mounted on the inside wall next to the door. Maybe in copper, or brass (could be found at a plant nursery). I have one at my slate entrance that is three pears with leaves, 26 wide by 18 tall How do you feel about teals, is that a color that makes you happy? My first thought is something like Ben Moore Teal Ocean or Naples Blue for that door....See Morewould simply white trim look weird with chantilly lace cabinets ?
Comments (3)You need to bring a sample of that countertop into your space and see...with your lights on and with the daylight that your kitchen gets. There are many posts here regarding a "white" countertop not reading white after all. Since your trim is SW already, I would check first before committing. And paint a sample board with CL and see that against your countertop choice also. AND your quartz sample might not even match your actual slab perfectly. ...whites are tricky....See MoreRelated Professionals
