Kitchen Remodel Ideas
Comments (10)I would suggest that you spend a fair amount of time looking at pictures of similar kitchens (galley) just to find what looks appeal to you. Find out if you are drawn to certain colors, certain metals, certain finishes more than others. There are many factors to good design, but the end goal is to make the space pleasing to be in for you. There are lots of pictures on Houzz, but there are many magazines that feature kitchens (Better Homes and Gardens is one of my favorites) that can view online, or find at your local library. Putting some time into that really will pay off, believe me! Also, think about what you like and don't like about your kitchen as it is. The current floor, for example - is it hard to clean? Don't like the color? Love the material but not the look? Yes, of course you can use a different floor material if that is more practical, or more cost effective, or a look that your prefer -whatever is most important to you. One important thing about choosing colors is being aware of how some shades are "warm" and some are "cool" - and mixing warm and cool usually doesn't look right. Since your kitchen is open to an adjacent room you also have to consider the colors and style there so that it all works together - it doesn't have to all match, just look good together!...See MoreKitchen Remodel ideas for countertops - granite or quartz?
Comments (24)You have such a wonderful opportunity when doing a remodel. Contrast is exciting but the more contrast, the busier and likely more crowded and smaller your kitchen will look. I'm with Calidesign on continuing the maple onto the island. If the only decision you can still make is the countertop, definitely use the same on both types of cabinets. In choosing colors, colors closer in value (level of light and dark) can add dimension without looking as busy. Note in the kitchen above that they've used a muted blue with the wood.. not a dark blue. But also note where your eye stops. It's at that black hood and range -- due to the contrast. And the same would be true on the dark countertop if there weren't so many reflections. As for the countertops, I opted for a very high-end natural quartzite because it's less porous than granite and I wish I had chosen a quartz product. Stone varies so much and can stain very easily in lighter colors, even those touted as being non-porous. Good luck with your renovation!...See Morekitchen remodel ideas
Comments (5)White is not going out IMO. love a white kitchen with enough contrast. I can show you thousands of ideas. But first, what’s your style? What aesthetic are you after? Also, white doesn’t have to be 100% white. We can incorporate lots of woods, blacks, greens, you name it!! I agree regarding moving the cooktop. I might put that on the fridge wall and put the fridge where the double ovens are. But the layout seems decent. How do you feel about it’s functionality?...See MoreKitchen remodel ideas needed
Comments (12)What is the overall style of your cabinets? Hard to suggest lighting without knowing more of the overall look. That said, here are my current favorite pendants. You can get a small pendant for the peninsula and a large 18" or 21" diameter one for the table. And 4 different finishes, to work with most color plans....See Morechiflipper
