Vinyl Plank vs Tile Plank vs Vinyl Tile Plank vs Laminate
Comments (12)We did our whole basement a few months back in luxury vinyl tile (that's the lvt above :) ) and just love it. I think it's a no-brainer if you have dogs that will scratch up hardwood or need waterproofing (we put it through our laundry area and mudroom). On a main floor, I'd still do hardwood, because all of the other options feel fake underfoot (barefoot). But if that's not an option, the lvt is warm, soft, and has some awesome looks these days. I really think it's going to completely replace laminate pretty quickly....See MoreCan't decide on wood look tile or Luxury vinyl planks for Kitchen!
Comments (25)I brought a sample home from Home Depot and could scratch it with my fingernail. Having said that, we went with a different brand as mentioned in my earlier post. it has a 5 mil wear layer with some kind of cerama beads, (I forget all the lingo I learned when researching ours). and I have never found a scratch on ours. We put it throughout our 1,000 sq ft cabin and also in our TV room at home. We have a 10+ lb. cat that tears around like a maniac. All claws intact. The wear layer is very important. It is recommended to put felt pads on all furniture feet. Makes for very easy moving of chairs etc. anyways. That way you shouldn't have to worry about scratches so long as there is no sand or stones lingering on the floor. But the felt pads would help minimize a problem anyways....See MoreEngineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) vs. Luxury Vinyl Plank vs Engineered Hard
Comments (24)@V M sorry, just seeing your post above. We are just now finally breaking ground on our home so I don't have pics of the flooring to show you from my house. I will come back and post when I do but that will be some months from now. But we are paying, I think, 15K for our Multi-Length Rigid Core SPC floors in color Sandhill. Our house will be 2975 sf and this floor covering will be throughout the home, except in 3 of the full baths and the utility room. I'm not exactly sure how many square feet that leaves but hopefully you can do some rough math. Everything goes through my builder so I don't have an exact price per square foot to provide you. I also am not sure if this includes labor to install....See MoreLuxury vinyl wood look plank or marble like tile for home in TX?
Comments (13)I'm in S. Florida with a similar situation except we plan to move probably 5-6yrs. When we bought our house 10 yrs ago it was carpeted except the living/dining room had engineered wood. It was very pretty looking but we knew the carpet had to go and it would be expensive because it involved 3 bedrooms and family room. I have allergies and will not live in a house with carpet. Plus heat and humidity can cause mold. In our previous house of 40 yrs we had wood floors throughout except kitchen and baths. I decided to use tile. Its easier to clean and I didn't have to worry about water from the kitchen. We put tile in all the bedrooms and bathrooms. The Family Room we went with a wood looking tile. I made sure the installer made the grout lines as close as possible to mimic wood. Most people think its wood. Its so easy to clean, mop. The engineered wood has held up over 10 yrs but a section has buckled (have no idea why) and I find spots are hard to remove, unlike real wood. If I were you, I'd go with insurance pays and put in wood looking tile at least in the living areas. It really looks good. Jane...See MoreJAN MOYER
