I don't know but do you think the porch was added afterwards? Is it actually a historical house or is someone just assuming that and has taken the liberty to say that in the listing?

Arch- I was thinking the same but wasn't sure so when you mentioned it, I went and googled it.

This is a Gothic Farmhouse which has that same "feel" to it except for that round porch that is all wrong for the style of the house.

The window placement does not look historically accurate. Gothic Revival/Cottage dormers, 1970s first floor windows, possible Colonial Revival or Queen Anne front porch ( can’t clearly see the columns)?

Try to pull a record from the town. My first thought at the dormers was a stick or gothic but the downstairs windows are not symmetrical/ lined up which they should be. The round porch is an add on for sure.

It looks like the double windows would lineup if they were to be single? Maybe it's the bastardized style..

The term "historical" is often more of a sales pitch for an older remodeled home rather than descriptive of its history. You should have any home you're considering buying inspected by a pro working for you and your interests (rather than the bank or realtor).

IF you do purchase it, you might consider recreating front portico into a porch, extending that middle forward facing gable (leaving the curved front) and using a shed roof on one or both sides of it to create a wrap around front porch.

Also, while it's still small, you might consider moving that tree farther from the house and adding a few more, if possible. You'd need to know where the utilities are buried before digging to add shade or any other purpose, so you will want to know that before you buy as well.

If the center gable were extended to create a two story front portico, with or without adding more porch, the fact that the downstairs and upstairs windows are offset would not be obvious at all.

Possible 1920s gothic revival except for the bottom windows wouldn’t be double but 2 separate windows or this 1840s. You need to do research verify if u are wanting historic. On google search gothic revival several 1840 s home with the triple dormer snd off set lower windows.

Sometimes it is just okay to do what you love and not worry about the actual style . I do agree this does not really fit any of the styles above and that round entry porch does not work at all no matter what.

If you buy this house, unless you truly need the sunlight for the window(s), instead of removing the front porch, you might consider just widening the front porch so you have a concrete floor porch across the entire front of the house -- but with a shed roof beginning just beneath the bottoms of the upstairs windows and extending until the front edge rests above the front posts ... adding additional posts on each side. ...

... not unlike the Southern Gothic envisioned by tedbixby

but, You could even leave that slight rounded area in front over the steps -- just rest the shed roof atop it.

If there is a room on one side or the other where you might want a screened porch, you could even wrap the front porch around the corner to meet it.

The porch doesn't bother me, but I had to align the windows. Also this house doesn't have AC. That an expensive issue to address.
