Yes, the blue is beautiful with that wood. You can do as you've shown with an area rug to brighten the space and keep the brown from overpowering the wood and leather. I personally would never pick a black or brown leather sofa with that beautiful wood. I like the orange chair, but would probably select blue for it and bring in a second chair in an entirely different but complementary style, in a print incorporating blue and another color (orange if you like, or green, or ?). That leather does not look like a light sucking blue, but one that would make the room vibrant without being too bright.

Since your photo suggests you like color I would look for something multi- colorful .....with a fairly intricate pattern so it won’t show soil...also lightweight so you can move it around easily with your feet.....things like this abound in ethnic stores like Pier 1...the other suggestions of thick hand- woven look fabrics with organic color variations is a good way to go also....so.... neutral... so it goes with everything....or colorful so it is fun and doesn’t have to go with anything

You have very warm walls, floor, and art. If you must go with gray, then choose the pale gray from your art work on the dining room wall. Really, the warmer tones in both your art works enhance the warm wood tones of the floor and some of your furnishings better than gray. Is there a reason to dictate the room on the basis of the sprigged gray and white chair and a coupon?

brandi, that's a lot of brown. heavy brown drapes, dark brown chairs, heavy stone fireplace,,,,, could you do some type of shades? maybe those heat blocking type of blinds or solar shades? they come in many colors and prints. If your goal is to filter light/heat, getting brown drapes isn't the best way to go! both of these options look way better and block heat and light (look into some type of uv coating for the window on the outside, or a diff type of window. maybe a triple pane) For the sofa, I can't really see the entire room. I think you could do a dark charcoal, or the cream option. I don't think a blue/gray will work next to your floors. (you didn't post any swatches so who knows what tones they are?) you say your walls are blue gray, but in the picture they look more white or just a pale gray. if you do a cream or natural color, you could vary more on future rug colors, or wall/accessory colors.
