O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!! Show your Christmas Trees!
Comments (57)Thanks Susie :D This cheers me up,too! Hey Kirk, that's what the tree looked like when I was growing up. We planted hundreds and hundreds with our mother it seemed like, even staying out in the woods til well past dark with all sorts of wild animals jumping around at us out there,(back then it was moonshiners you ran into on your property, now it's meth labs) and it was scary when you're only about 6 or 7 years old! I never inherited my mother's ability or want, to wander alone in the woods til wee hours of the morning. After I was married and lived here, we still cut down our own trees, until trespassers stole all of them(to sell, I guess)one year. Some grew back up from the trunks, but we didn't feel like fooling with them any more after that. The smell is great, there's no comparison to a live tree, but we broke down and got an ARTIFICIAL pre-lit one :D lol Too many allergies, they dried out quickly, too. Boy could I tell you some FUNNNNY stories us and the kids endured with live trees ( one year involving a crazy Himalayan cat we had :D ) I can't wait til next Christmas!oh and I see Carol's tree skirt! It's just perfect. Cherry/Kudzu...See MorePicture of the day (48)
Comments (12)Theresa your wish is my command. I had to google the english version anyways hahaha Oh Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum wie grün sind deine Blätter. Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit. Nein auch im Winter wenn es schneit. Oh Tannenbaum Oh Tannenbaum, wie grün sind deine Blätter. When we had x mas celebration at night on the 24th, we HAD to sing! My dad was deadly serious about it! As a kid we always giggled about it and he got real mad. As an adult and things happeing in life. The times we did get to spend x mas together and sang. I did not giggle anymore. For I understood now what CHristmas really means and for my father that was always clear as long as I can think back. To this day when I sing silent night, my dads one song he put his soul into when he sang it, you could hear it in his voice. I choke up and cry. Since my dad died 10 years ago I just can not sing it anymore for I miss him to much. In a good way. Not sadness. But I AM happy that my x mas tree did exactly what it was suppose to do for ya. You know I decorated it JUST for this special picture of the day :-)))) ha ha ha normally I do not think I would have come up with that idea lol. I feel sorry for you all. It will be a long brutal winter hahahahahahaha Lucy...See MoreHow do I get a real Christmas tree smell with an artificial tree?
Comments (31)Wow -- I want to thank everyone who recommended Thymes' Frazier Fir diffuser. This is our first year with an artificial tree and I really missed the smell. Knowing GW, I did a search and found this perfect thread (!); going to the Thymes' website I found a local (I mean a seven minute drive, door to door) charming shop I'd never seen before. It was incredible! And for whatever reason, they sold it to me for $30 (it should've been $60); I protested but they said "no, that's the price." So I bought a few other bibelots to ease my conscience (and it wasn't hard because it was one of those incredible shops where you want to just move in!). Right down the street from this shop a man was offering hay wagon rides, so my four and two year-olds, husband and I all hopped on and had an incredible ride around this sweet and historic downtown. Then we found an outdoor skating rink, so we rented some skates and pulled each other around. On the walk back to our car a man was handing out homemade candy canes from his candy shop. My four year-old loves candy canes! And all of these wonderful things happened to us today because the generous people here on GW shared Thymes Frazier Fir diffuser. So now I have this gorgeous smell, know about this wonderful local shop, and had a wonderful, serendipitous Saturday. Thank you!...See MoreAnother Christmas Quiz
