kiss me over the garden gate
Comments (8)I grow both every year. Kiss Me Over the Gate is not the least bit invasive in my yard and in fact, every year I scatter seeds and wish for more volunteers. Love Lies Bleeding is not invasive either, but I do have many volunteers pop up. Problem is, they never pop up where I want them to so I always start a 6-pack of them to plant where I want them to grow. Perhaps it's my zone, or my dry winter winds, but I don't have problems with invasives like most of the country seems to. Comments (7)Thank you everyone. It's always fun to cook with a theme. Ann and Annie, the stand that holds up the serving dish for the blueberries was made by me with some scrap metal I had in my shop. Teresa, It is interesting that if you cut some veggies a different way, it shows up a different kind of hidden beauty. "Stunning - as always dcarch. Now a chicken or the egg type question for you. Do you have visions and then cook accordingly or do you cook and let the food guide you? Jane" Jane, thanks. I am not sure whether it is the chicken or the egg, or may be it's the rooster that comes first. I look at what everyone here is making, take a quick look at the recipes, and then when I come home from work, it is what I have in the refrigerator at the moment which will guide me. Until the very last moment of cooking, the natural shapes, colors, and textures, of all the ingredients in the pot or pan, they seem to want to fall into some kind of geometry that will provoke a unique sensation beyond taste and smell. That kind of spontaneous geometry, which does not cost any money, is highly satisfying because it adds an extra dimension to eating. I do encourage all to focus a little on "food play". It is easier than you think. dcarch...See MoreKiss me Kate Arborose
Comments (92)I was so ready to shovel prune KMK! Now I'm glad I didn't. This is her 3rd year in my garden and in spite of to the ground winter die back, I'm starting to love her. I counted 50 bids and wasn't even 1/3 done counting! Only problem is the bloom edges are a little crispy.. maybe someone can tell me why....See MoreDon't Kiss Me, Keep Your Distance!!!
Comments (16)Lars, I have worn glasses since first grade! I wore contact lenses until a couple of years ago, when my eyes became too dry to tolerate them. It's just so different, I still reach up to take my glasses off whenever I put in the eyedrops, and a couple of times I've thought that I need to clean my contacts when my eyes become tired or scratchy. I know it's a silly small thing, but I'm still surprised in the morning when I can see the alarm clock at the side of the bed when I wake up! I can read and use the computer with no glasses at all, but the doctor says I will probably need glasses to drive long distances, I am still slightly nearsighted and have been corrected to 20/30 at this point. My right eye before surgery was less than 20/80, they stopped testing at that point. My left eye was slightly better. So my vision has been corrected to the point where I can legally drive without glasses, but details are not as sharp as I would like and I can't read things like street signs as quickly as I would like. The doc does say that my vision will continue to change and that I shouldn't get glasses for about 2 months. Double bonus is that when/if I do buy glasses I won't have to buy any more of those $500 special-lightweight-progressive lenses that were still about a quarter inch thick. AND, no fogging up of the glasses from my mask, yay! The downside is that I now see things that need cleaning that I never noticed before so I've been dusting lampshades and scrubbing drawer handles, LOL. Annie...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
