Help! Does your Bosch DW dry dishes?!
Comments (12)Update: we tried a second load, this time with more dishes. They came out a lot drier. Still not ready to be put away, but much better. It seems the thermal mass of the dishes helps the drying process. As I type, my husband is at the store getting some "Jet-Dry," and we just finished our first non-takeout dinner, so we'll have a full dishwasher and the rinse agent to try tonight! Running an empty dishwasher around here will be a rare event. The things you learn in a new kitchen! (Now that we have a side-lever faucet, we suddenly realized that we both always use our left hand to turn on the water, but the lever is on the right side! Who'd'a thunk?!) Thanks for all help and advice, I'll post a follow-up when we've used our dishwasher in the normal mode we'll always use it in....See Morebosch 800 + series does not dry dishes????
Comments (25)Hi Peke i guess I shouldnt be shocked others are putting up with this kind of experience probably everywhere these are sold! i understand your the wife in the house, after blowing $900 on this and noticing the wet dishes, I actually get up early to open the dw, so wifey doesn’t realize the poor decision I made, coupled with the fact I was a certified appliance tech!, I ended up with a different career, but still. i noticed when shopping for dw’s, some the brands were recently adding doors that “popped “ open at end of cycle. my impression was, hmmm, why? never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Bosch removing the heating/drying elements! And forgot to mention in my first story, the fan/ventilation system standard on all machines is ALSO removed. im sure some engineers got a big fat bonus in their paycheck’s for saving the company $$$. the mongural brands I steer clear from AT LEAST have the door pop open feature to assist a little drying dishes . well, I’ve gone on too long with this, the fact that it’s already installed is what stops me from returning it. and you bet Bosch is betting on that. I installed mysel, most people will spend in addition to the dw itself, $200-$300 for installatio! which practically guarantee’s you won’t be returning. gotta go, got dishes to dry....See MoreBosch SHV45MO3UC dishwasher: Does it dry dishes well enough?
Comments (13)"I programmed the DW to utilize the intensive drying feature.. whatever that is." The intensive drying feature raises the final rinse temperature so the dishes get hotter and thus dry better. On the European models, it raises the final rinse from 149°F to 158°F. Vinegar will really only help to reduce spotting related to lime - it does not improve drying. That's what rinse aid is for: is causes the water to form a thin film of water on the dishes, rather than droplets, which dries faster and without spots. Vinegar can't do this. You'll have to experiment with the rinse aid setting. When I use the rather thick Electrasol/Finish Turbo Dry rinse aid, seting no. 1 is enough to dry the dishes. Before that, I used rather thin, watery rinse aid and I had to set the dispenser to 2 or 3. On the ASKO: the fan cannot be disabled. What it does is gradually suck warm, moist air out of the tub during the drying cycle. The fan cannot be disabled. However, ASKO's drying system does not involve an extra heater - only the fan - so it won't wrap plastic items (just like the Bosch's condensation system)....See MoreNew Whirlpool dishwasher not drying
Comments (7)@Emi Miller, "I just got a brand new Whirlpool WDTA50SAKZO Dishwasher and the inside is sopping wet including the dishes after extended dry and high heat water selected." Are you using rinse aid? The machine's performance is engineered for it. What is the dosage setting (choice of 0/off or 1 to 6 mL)? Do not expect the interior to be bone-dry immediately after the cycle ends. Crack the door open (hang a dish towel over it if necessary so it doesn't close) so the residual moisture can evaporate. That's just how these newer units operate. I recently used a friend's Bosch a few times when there for a week to help them move. There were some areas of residual moisture on the tub interior a day later, with rinse aid used. His model doesn't have a drying heater, extended dry option on it (which wasn't used) increases the final rinse temperature....See Morewaverly6
