How to design a beamed and vaulted ceiling for small keeping room
Comments (5)We had the architect take our ceiling all the way up in our master bedroom, it is on the first floor with nothing above it, so we thought we'd do that, rather than the 10 ft ceilings in the rest of the house. Ours has painted beams, as the rest of our house has painted trim and is a little "dressy!" But sometimes I think the rustic wood beams might have given our room more character....anyway....it is done now and not changing! Here is a pic of how our beams are laid out...they aren't structural. It definitely gives our ceiling more "oomph!" :) Our room is 16' x 17', and in the pic one of the beams is out of the frame....See MoreVaulted Living Room Ceiling Lighting Options
Comments (1)My parents have a ceiling similar to that, and their recessed lighting ends up not shining on the main living area because it is so angled from the angle of the ceiling. Nevertheless, it's not a prohibitive thing to do recessed lighting. You just need to be prepared for where that light will end up hitting. A fan plus a chandelier could be a tough design problem to solve. Usually one or the other is the focal point. If you can find a nice light/chandelier combo that you like, perhaps that would work in the center of the room. There are people who specialize in lighting design. You might consider paying for an in-home consultation to see what other options you might have....See Morepainting vaulted ceilings with beams the same as walls?
Comments (4)I used SW Canvas Tan on many walls in my home, as well as all the ceilings that aren't wood. I love it. It's a nice warm white. Painting those beams the same should look great....See Morepainting vaulted ceilings with beams the same as walls?
Comments (5)Yikes. Lol.. so didn’t have any thoughts on the beams until this.. so I guess I’m a bit confused because when pouring over a bunch of house pictures there were a ton that looked like this. 🤔 the only difference is they were just painted white.....See Moresparkshooter
