GardenWeb has joined Houzz
Comments (11)Here's the message I received. We've got some exciting news to share with you. Last week, GardenWeb joined the Houzz family. The GardenWeb and Houzz communities have a lot in common with regard to our shared passion for our homes and gardens and the overwhelmingly positive experience we try to provide our members. You may even belong to both GardenWeb and Houzz already! You may have some questions about what to expect in the coming weeks, so we wanted to share some preliminary information with you. Rest assured, it is very important to us to maintain the incredible community you have been a part of creating over the years. We will: Preserve GardenWeb forums - We love the GardenWeb community and we want it to remain strong and vibrant. Respect your Privacy - Houzz does not and will not share your contact information with any advertisers. Next week we'll be in touch with more information and an email to confirm your GardenWeb account, but in the meantime, if you have feedback, questions, or concerns please don't hesitate to email us at feedback@gardenweb.com. We would love to hear from you. The GardenWeb and Houzz Teams Privacy Policy © 2015 Houzz Inc. All rights reserved. : 310 University Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301...See MoreGardenweb and the Houzz Team.
Comments (16)It's a shame. Houzz is basically a corporate site run by corporate propeller heads -- they made a lot of money on it, they went out buying other sites, and their fate will be the same as Yahoo and so many others. If there is still a houzz.com in 10 years (or five), nobody on the current staff will be there anyway. I've done time at these places and know how it works. When they have investors interested, they aggressively buy out sites that have real followings and real users, like Gardenweb. And it never turns out good for the sites that are bought. The UI here is done by some millennial in some San Francisco cubicle who not only never made a post on Gardenweb, but who never even read a post on Gardenweb. They don't care, they don't get it, they just have stock options and huge salaries and a $580,000 condo to pay for. Gardenweb was such a wonderful site. It was easy to read, nicely designed, well indexed, and it had a community. As far as I can tell, just about all of that is gone....See MoreAre you using Houzz ap for gardenweb?
Comments (15)Here's how to install Linelle's javascript in Safari for iOS. Then you have it for any page on any site: There is no built in way to get quickly to the bottom of a page. However, this neat trick should work. If you want to go to the bottom of any web page in Safari you can do it using a bookmark and javascript. Using your iPhone, go to any page and save a bookmark (this one will do). Then copy the following line on your iPhone (the usual way). javascript:window.scrollTo%280%2C100000%29 Edit the bookmark you created. Rename it something like "Go to bottom" and then replace the url with the above (paste it in). The next time you are viewing a page and want to go to the bottom, just select that bookmark and it will take you to the bottom of the page....See MoreGardenweb lover, not houzze lover
Comments (5)I'm having a different experience. I used the old garden web and then had to take 4-5 years off to get a new garden started. I have always bookmarked pages, and I have garden web pages bookmarked, both the master list of GW forums Master list of GW forums and the forums I visit most. In addition, as I've done some painting, etc, to a house that needs work in more than painting, I've really enjoyed Houzz's other features and am glad have it. They have a very easy format for me to look at other non-garden house "stuff" and I've gotten some valuable info, too. Maybe add some bookmarks? GW is pretty painless for me right now with bookmarks, and I LOVE how easy it is to add photos. Before I had to use Photobucket, which is under no circumstances an option since they started charging in the hundreds for the use of their services. Very glad I can upload pictures from my computer directly now....See Moreperen.all Zone 5a Ontario Canada
