What's going on with my tomato plants??
Comments (5)Thanks for the replies! Some of the foilage looks great others not so great. I just trimmed off a couple of dead limbs yesterday. Some leaves are yellowish and curling. 2 of them are Bradleys and 1 Cherokee Purple. The Cherokee Purple has been having a hard time since the beginning. We set them out mid May I think?? Maybe the beginning.. We have picked 8 tomatoes this season and only 1 of them from the Cherokee. We are thinking it's the heat also. We moved them into the shade on Saturday and they do seem to be perking up. Between the three we currently have 5 or 6 growing at this moment so at least somthing is happening. We haven't done anything to them since we potted them either. Should we? Thanks again!...See MoreAny ideas what's going on with my tomato plants (pictures)?
Comments (1)I don't have any ideas but I'm having the same problems this year and it's really bad. Out of 9 plants 2 are on death's doorstep ready to be pulled and 2 more are getting symptoms so whatever it is it might be spreading. I suspect blight. We had tons of rain last month (over 10 inches). When my plants had those yellowing leaves like yours I pruned them off. This was 3 weeks ago. The pretty much dead plants just kept going downhill. I was going to search the tomato forum to figure out what I did wrong and maybe try not to do the same thing next year. BTW: Due to all the rain here in Chicago, I have mushrooms growing out the drainage holes in many containers....See Morewhat is going wrong with my tomatoe plants?
Comments (5)It appears to be a newly emerged leaf; the veins are greener than the surrounding tissue. This is not too unusual but you have some experience with the crop and therefore it is significant. I think that it is a nutrition symptom. If you did not fertilize, try some starter type fertilizer -preferably water soluble- which can be applied over the top. Go very lightly. Half dose is recommended. If you did apply fertilizer then it might be a problem of uptake. Too little water; slow release etc....See MoreWhat is going wrong with my tomato leaves? Bumps on leaves
Comments (14)Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me! I ended up getting everything stabilized and they are mostly back to normal. I had a few things which all contributed to the edema issue and then a period of over watering after transplant. As I said, the big closet they are in gets pretty warm and humid due to the door being shut to keep the cats out. I had a fan on them and with the furnace running, it was keeping the room cooler and keeping the humidity down. After transplant, I did a heavy watering. For the next 5 days, I didn't run the fan and it has been warming here, so the furnace hasn't been circulating the air to keep the room cool and to remove the humidity. I think this caused the edema and the lack of water evaporation which caused the wilted leaves from the wet potting soil. After I figured this all out, they all stabilized and are looking much better. With the nicer weather, time for them to start transitioning outside. Still 4 weeks to go. Next year, I will be waiting 4 more weeks to start the seeds. They are getting too big, but I had spring fever. :)...See Moreediej1209 AL Zn 7
