1940's/1950's Pomona Ceramic Tiles....where do I find more?
Comments (11)I was trying to figure out what to do with my kitchen tile---yellow, probably 50s.....same kind of a thing as you.....caused by replacing a countertop that had post-formed backsplash. I found some places that would custom make tile to match. Try searching on "custom replacement tile" or something like that. As it turned out, I found a very close match in new tile so I didn't have to have any made. Weirdly, I found a close color match at Home Depot from the United States Ceramic Tile Company. The sample board for special orders was placed way up high on the wall and I almost missed it. I did separate the old tile from the new tile with a black liner tile so that the colors weren't right next to each other. They are very, very close in color though. I practically had a nervous breakdown before I found them, expecting to have a huge problem. If you can't find something, can you think of any kind of a skinny little cabinet or something to put there that wouldn't look totally odd? Sometimes the stuff I like the best comes out of a situation like this....See MoreTrying to reglaze a 1950's window...how do I get it out?
Comments (19)I have to agree with the other pros, this is not likely to be successful. These are a PITB to remove due to the nails in the soft aluminum and typically get destroyed in the process. Options are to reglaze in place from a ladder, or have a professional do so. I'd tend to recommend the latter, shouldn't be all that expensive...See MoreIs my 1950’s kitchen sink original? What can you tell me about it?
Comments (44)Thank you for all the comments, I still love hearing from everyone and their opinions. I still am changing my mind everyday about that sink, it’s very useful... as far as everyones comments of it not being big enough (how big are your sinks?!... haha) btw the middle sink isn’t for washing, it is food disposal :) I use the left sink for washing and the right sink for rinsing. I do have some good news I just discovered 10 minutes ago (seriously)...it looks like the upper cabinets are original! Which makes me so happy because they are my favorite! Woohoo,... the doors are newer, I’m guessing to match the newer bottom cabinets. How easy is is it to move the dishwasher over to make room for this sink/or future vintage sink? It bothers me that it’s off center. And since the bottoms aren’t original so I don't mind moving things around. Thank you again to everyone so far !...See MoreWhat paint to coordinate with 1950s sofa?
Comments (4)We are in the process of repainting most walls Sherwin Williams Neutral Ground and trim will be Pure White. I didn’t post additional photos because everything is being changed at the moment (kitchen cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc. ) so current photos wouldn’t be much help. I will post more pics in a few weeks once more changes have been made so everyone can see! Thank you all so much!! 😀...See Moresuezbell
