Back of house needs some pizzaz!
Comments (0)We just had major sewer excavation work done which tore up our property. We're going to get the driveway redone with a larger patio, but I wanted to see if anyone has examples of a similar house that's nicely architected. It's a 50's brick ranch, rear 2-car garage and walkout basement, lots of concrete. Most ranch houses around here have the garage in the front or side, so this one is a bit different. I'd love to see some large patios with an overhanging roof, landscaping that softens the look but ties together driveway and patio, or even some second story decks with garages underneath. The link below has some pics. I'm all ears for just about anything and will follow up with what it looks like with a fresh driveway and cleaned up retaining wall. Thanks! Here is a link that might be useful: The ranch house......See MoreHow to add some color and pizzaz please
Comments (30)Here is the furniture from a picture of our old house. Is this hopeless with the style of the light over the kitchen table? BTW, I love the rose bushes idea and could put them behind the safety of the gate in the front courtyard. I will ask at the garden center what they advisee to put in front of the concrete wall because we have a nightly herd of deer out front. It's so much fun. And I know, it's wonderful to have those kinds of beautiful, happy dreams. I have never gardened much but can see how great it might be. The house can be beautiful. It's a little cold looking now, and I havent hot much talent in decor, but I think it could be warmer and more inviting. I would like to have a welcoming home....See MorePizzaz Needed for Front of House
Comments (11)A quick way to spiff up the exterior would be to repaint the shutters in exactly the same brownish cranberry color because one coat would do it. There may be old paint cans in the garage with the name of the color on them so you can get a new can mixed. Once you are ready to spend some money on the exterior, a new paint scheme would be an excellent update. Do an armchair driveby with google streetview of new developments in your area to see what is fashionable. Comments (7)Are you on an acreage with lots of space to expand? I need to see the plot of land and the house drawn to scale on graph paper to even begin to figure out where a garage could go. If you have an HOA then this needs to be cleared with them even before you have a plan. I see water is that alake ? Take a pic much furher back so we see the whole house and how it sits on the property . It almost looks like the lower piece on the right was a garage so I need to see from further back. You will of course need an architect to really get this done. IMO any addition to a house should always look like it was there all the time....See MoreRelated Professionals
