A different house colr for sure that is just blah. I actually would do white with black shutters and a black door . I don’t love shutters but IMO they kind of suit this house . You need oversized black planters with lots of full seasonal plantings I would do a taller double entry door in black. Think of this as a colonial it will have a great look Extend the landscaping in to the yard more too and I always love a wakway from the street to the front door

I would remove the shutters off of the double windows on the left side. They aren't appropriate there at all.

I would change the color. I do like the classic white and black that Patricia details above.

The most important thing to do is to change the landscaping - it needs a complete overhaul. Post in the landscape forum for some great ideas from the people there.

Congratulations on a very nice house! I would keep the body color and paint the shutters black. I cannot tell what is happening at the front door? Maybe it is the angle of the picture, but something looks off. But, most importantly, get a professional landscape/hardscape plan. It will look stunning!

Dissenting vote on house color here - I like the colors as they are. There are soooo many white houses with black shutters . That’s a classic combo I know , but I think your colors are nice,too. Maybe leave the body as is and paint the shutters a different color if you are so inclined. Congratulations and much enjoyment to you in your new home.

Congratulations on a lovely home. A new house color and shutter color would spruce up the exterior. It needs more contrast between body color and shutter color. If you don't want the white house/black shutters, consider other colors. White house/gray shutters, gray house/black shutters. Sometimes it's helpful to drive around and see other homes in colors you like. I stop and ring the door to ask them what color they used. They are always flattered. I also think you need to address the front door. It is off somehow. I don't like the transom WITH the sidelight. I think I might remove the sidelight (keep the transom), and replace with a larger door. You could also add a portico to mimic the left side of the house. I disagree with Denita - the shutters are appropriate on the left side. Yes, hire a landscaper for some beautiful changes.

Would want to add an interesting portico roof to cover the stoop and the front steps. That alone could give your home "pizzaz".. Add a pair of really interesting wind chimes to the sides of the new portico roof.

Is the front siding pink and the siding on the right side of the house more a creamy off white like the garage door?

If you're repainting, would repaint the exterior walls of all four sides of the house and garage as well as the gutter down spouts the same color; then use one coordinating color (noticeably lighter or darker color) for all the trim: window and door trim and fascia and soffit. Unless you're using black and white, would not make the contrast too stark.

Would work toward getting all the shrubs in front the same height -- just below the bottom of the windows.

Would add a post where the sidewalk meets the driveway with lighting -- solar lighting if electric light not practical.

Would slightly enlarge the planting area to the right of the entry/portico to create a quarter circle and outline it with paving stones -- with tops of stones ground level ease with mowing the lawn -- and place any flower posts there ( perhaps a grouping of three different sizes). You could also put another post with hanging brackets for flower pots and/or bird feeders and/or wind chimes. (Same weight flower pot and basket on opposite sides for balance).

Consider adding a plain concrete bird bath to your enlarged planting area -- one you can see from the window. Choose one with the interior sides sloped -- larger at top than bottom -- so if/when water freezes, it can push the ice up and out rather than breaking the bowl of the bird bath. You might need to scrub/bleach it a few times each year with a stiff brush but the entertainment value is worth it.

Sally so happy for you. Lots of options and good ideas. I would also like some type of portico over front door and porch. More expansive landscaping all will benefit this home. I think a light very pale yellow would work with bright white trim with your roof color. This house has a deep blue color on the shutters and a similar roof. Live there for a bit to see what the house tells you!

Robin's Egg Blue front door. Lots of ways to bring some greater interest to this nice home. Plan over the winter and hit the ground running in the early spring. Find a good nursery over winter, and find out what plant materials do best in your area, and find a good landscape person to help you implement a good plan. So fun!!

Get rid of the shutters — they are nonfunctional and make the house look busy.

How are they functional?

Functional = sized right with hinges and hardware so shutters can open and close and lock in closed position.

Go for a dramatic bold change. Charcoal gray house with black trim and shutters if you keep them. I'd go black door too or you have option of almost any color door with that house palette.
