What happens when you rip a row of tile off wall?
Comments (6)The drywall guy (the one who sanded off the heavy uneven texture throughout the entire house) said that he could fix it. It would be a 3" by 25" area on each side. That shouldn't be too bad. I'm going to look at it tonight to see if I can just live with the 9in backsplash. I saw it for the first time in front of the tile guy so I couldn't really focus because I was trying not to let him see the fire coming out of my ears! As of last night, the impression I got was "gee I wish I could have subway tiled the entire wall, but I ran out of either money or tile." 3-6" backsplash says I just wanted a backsplash. A 9" backsplash of three 3" tiles just looks stupid. At least it did last night. Yes, EVERYTHING in writing if I ever build again. EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I had more faith in people before this. I never in my wildest dreams thought so many people could screw up. I remember after the first ordeal on day1 with the house not fitting on the lot when they went to form. I thought, well, surely they have to make one mistake--no biggie--they won't make anymore. HA! What mistake HAVEN'T they made? the roofer and the stucco guy did good. everyone else has been a total let down--even the driveway guys....See MoreRemoving Wall Texture - Unknown Texture Material Over Plaster
Comments (10)My thoughts on the order of attack are: 1. Use putty knife to get in behind it to the plaster in a small inconspicuous area just to get a better grip on what I'm working with. 2. Water/Fabric Softener out of a pump sprayer. If it soaks in, let it sit for a while and see if it comes off with a putty knife or scraper. 3. Try this product from Amazon (link at bottom) - EcoSolve Home Strip X-Tex Textured Coatings Remover 4. I'm going to be renting a steamer for all of the wallpaper in the home and will maybe give that a go as well. 5. If none of the above works, I will try to sand. If this works, I will likely rent a power sander/vacuum combo. 6. If all else fails, I will skim coat with joint compound. Does this sound reasonable? Comments (13)on my sand ... it would make no difference .... you say your drainage is very good .. so i dont see a problem .. in fact.. you may have gotten water down into the whole root mass planted ... which would be perfect .... if you want to know the status of moisture in the soil ... INSERT FINGER ... or dig a 3 to 4 inch hole.. AND FIND OUT ... and then perhaps you can rest easy ... with 5 acres .. and raising lids.. this is one reason i used to carry a timer .... btw .. i would NOT water the top parts of conifers .. so i would also suggest a hose on trickle ... lawn sprinklers are for lawn ... not tree leaves ... i would also suspect it may not need water for a month or 3 .... depending on what you find.. when you dig a couple holes and find out ... keep in mind its fall.. and when temps fall significantly .. especially night temps .. water stays in the soil much longer than in the heat of summer .... ken...See MoreHelp!! Comments (10)I got the same problem on my newly installed 24 x 48 inches polished porcelain marble tiles on shower wall. There are many black dots on one of the tiles. They are not on the surface. I feel sad!! Hope it won't grow on other tiles. Luckily it's not on conspicious area. I will try acetone and sharp edge....See MoreSammy
