Comments (24)Wow, GA did a great job with that mock up. Totally a classy ranch home. How awesome, another nice American home. I THOUGHT about saying black on the fascia, but with the windows updated on the former garage, there you go. Black takes that brick to modern, and some grass and landscaping makes it timeless. A gem waiting to be polished, truly. You could certainly have the shingles removed, have a radiant barrier installed with a concealed fastener, "standing seam look alike" metal roof put on in charcoal gray color, it would have great curb appeal. https://www.muellerinc.com/roofing Their next tone, a burnished color, is pretty dark and could overwhelm the light to medium tone of your brick. You don't want a house that is dominated by the roof in your vision, just complimented by it..... The charcoal gray from this manufacturer is the perfect tone for your home imho. If you don't have Mueller in your area, do find another manufacturer and choose a color that is heat reflective and has a color warranty which is great. You could put the galvalum on, and save a bit, (that standard silvery color)but the color warranty is only 10 years, the last time I checked....See MoreCurb appeal side/back of house facing street 1900 Farm house
Comments (8)We have only owned the house for a year. You would be amazed how much tree/shrub cutting we have already done! All bradford pears were removed. Several hackberries removed and a LOT of tree limbing. We trimmed up the shrubs a bunch last year but didn't want to totally shock them. Took them down some more this year. So its a work in progress. All that to say...the property is actually very charming, even magical : ) There is LOTS of shade but also that pretty scattered light coming through the trees. My biggest concern is that brick chimney wall that faces the street. We have discussed Japanese Maple or Japanese LIlac tree. The maple is pretty but I'd love a flowering tree if possible. It is very shady though and don't know if the Lilac would do well? Appreciate any ornamental tree advise please. Here are the boxwoods when we purchased the house! There is one tall section left in the trimmed pic above b/c a robins nest with eggs are in there right now. But basically we have brought all of those down to porch level except the ones on the corners of house....See MoreHOUSE TOUR: 90-Year-Old Interior Designer at Peak of Career
Comments (10)What an interesting person. Quite the history. It doesn't appear that he has any formal training in interior design at all. So really quite the achievement. I have a feeling part of the story is missing...how did the bank know to ask him to redo the rooms and how did he know he could do it and had an interest in such work? His rooms are beautifully done even if on the busy side for my tastes. Fascinating that the living room was moved from England via Hearst. And yet another designer who doesn't really care what the kitchen is like as he never cooks... He kept saying "we" but I don't know if he's referring to his wife, if she's passed on, or what his living arrangement is now, but it seems as if he's alone now. I love his attitude! And yet another designer using animal print. I really gotta get me some......See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
