The arch lamp you have by the tv should be, behind the sofa in the corner.

All those chairs can work, and the height will really matter more to the style you are trying to achieve and what is comfortable. Having black legs is enough, the table is pretty transitional so it will work with most of the style of chairs you like. I like the style of the third one best, but I don't think you should go rust-colored you have enough brown tones with the floor and ceiling. what other colors do those come in? I would order one to see how it feels and fits!!

Hi! Thank you so much for your input. So the 3rd chair also comes in a blue (that looks like teal online but Im not trusting that it will be in person) and gray. The gray seems light enough that it can work. I think I will order one to try it out.

I wouldn't get any faux leather chairs. Other than that, there are lots of modern chairs that will go with that table.

Now, why is your TV so high and stuck behind a plant? Might you want to do something with your living area? It looks kind of gloomy. Hanging curtains from closer to the ceiling would help, especially since the space seems so large. Can anyone even reach the coffee table? It looks too small and too far away.

And yes, the arc lamp should go in the corner behind the couch.

Hmm it does look far away in the pic. Funny I was just talking about changing it because I'm not comfortable with people putting their feet in the the glass table.

I considered raising the curtains but there is not much room between where they are now and the ceiling. It didn't seem worth it. what do you think?

If you're going to use the curtains to actually cover the windows, they need to be at least 2 1/2 times the width of the window. Otherwise they look skimpy.

We had the sofa the other way--with the king side facing the tv. It makes sense but unfortunately it didn't work. The sectional stuck out too much into the passageway. You can't really see it, but it's the area with the black and white pics in the photo with my daughter.

Elizabeth, you don't need anything above the TV when you lower it. It would be a good idea to have a console under the TV, though. And if possible, I would put the TV flat against the wall opposite the sofa. Ergonomically, the center of the screen should be at seated eye level. Aesthetically, the TV (if mounted) should be 5 - 8" above the console and the console should be at least 25% wider than the TV.

Ok. Thats good to know! Maybe I'll just get a console. We deliberated extensively on where to put the tv. There's only 1 wall. There appears to be a wall behind the sofa but its the stairs to the 1st floor and then a wall on the other side. The previous owners didn't even have a tv so that was no help..

Lets get the chairs first, as the style might help predict the overall look.also you might want to put in a swag hook so you can center it to the table.
