Much of the "bargain" nursery stock comes from the nurseries around McMinnville, TN. See link below for the Eagle Creek Nursery there (not much info tho). I took it to the forestry department in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to get it checked out this morning. They knew what it was right away and said it is indeed eastern dwarf misteltoe. The professor said that it is the cause of many witches brooms found in northern Wisconsin, and the northeast portion of the country in general. Externally, he could only find it on the bottom branches. He thinks that it hasn't yet spread to the top of the plant. He took some slices of branches from the upper portions to look under a microscope and saw no pathological evidence of it there, confirming it has not already spread internally on the plant. Thanks for that link njtea. It was very interesting; I can't wait to see the 2007 update. aman17; as much as I hate to drive, I just might consider that trip. It sounds thrilling! The adult actually did a flyover my house on Saturday, at 5pm! I heard some strange sounds and noticed 3 seagulls flying behind a large bird. I kept my eye on it, thinking to myself that it was just those darn red tailed hawks that occasionally kill birds in my back yard, but the seagulls surely wouldn't have been THAT close. Sure enough, once it got closer, I saw the white head and tailfeathers. I couldn't take my eyes off of it, but when it turned, I ran in the house to get DH; I needed a witness! Naturally, he was in the shed and I twisted my ankle running for him, but I'm sure I'll see it again. And I've got to remember to bring the camera outside with me, at all times!

Hi, I'm hoping someone may know why all of a sudden "our eagle" is flying up and down the river and crying constantly!! We live in very south New Jersey on what used to be a lake now just a creek type river. We always saw two eagles, male and female perhaps maybe one to three times a month. Now for at least 4 days (we were away so could be longer) what we think is the male presenting this behavior. We are praying that nothing has happened to "Sylvia" and he's looking for her?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Marian
