I worked in a preschool some time back. The teachers washed the tables with a vinegar-water spray. When the state inspectors came, they spritzed some clorox on a paper towel and dropped it on the top of the trash can. Satisfied the inspectors‘ noses.

Swimming pool chlorine tablets in the toilet water tank. I used to use them but got tired of the chlorine smell. Switched to using spa tablets (bromine). Helps keep the toilet clean and reduces how often I have to scrub it.

t_wilhel10--if you use chlorine tabs in the toilet tank, you will need to get a chlorine resistant flapper. The chlorine destroys those black rubber ones. I switched the flappers out to the red Korky ones.

I also love the smell of Clorox bleach. My mother and grandmother always used bleach when washing our whites. The smell reminds me of Monday wash day at home. Clorox Cleanup spray cleaner leaves a mild "Clorox" smell. You can also get it in a gallon jug, dilute it with water and use it to wash your floors. You have to be careful on the surfaces you use it on because it does contain Clorox bleach. Lysol also has a "bleach" automatic toilet bowl cleaner. Its one of those that hangs over the edge of the toilet bowl. When you flush the water hits it and it dissolves some of the bleach cake into the toilet bowel. Because it is not in the tank it avoids eating the internal components in the tank. The Lysol comes in a green duo pack that has the words "with Bleach" on the front of the package. Lastly, you can use bleach to wash your whites. It will permeate the area with a clean bleach laundry smell.

Breathing high levels of chlorine causes fluid build-up in the lungs, a condition known as pulmonary edema. The development of pulmonary edema may be delayed for several hours after exposure to chlorine. Contact with compressed liquid chlorine may cause frostbite of the skin and eyes.
