Oil rubbed bronze light with brushed nickel hardware?
Comments (2)I was researching this a few days ago as well, and found some articles that said this is not considered wrong from a design standpoint. It sounded like it was more acceptable to mix finishes now, and some people prefer the not so matchy look anyway. I was curious because I have 3 rooms that flow together and I have brushed nickel in two rooms. In the 3rd room I wanted to put in a ORB light. I think it will work fine. I actually just replaced the windows with ORB double curtain rods (and these flow through two rooms). I also read that if you can add at least a couple pieces in that particular finish it will look even better.... so I felt having the curtain rods and the light would make it work, but I think even without, it's ok. Buy what you love, that is most important!...See MoreBrushed Nickle or Oil Rubbed Bronze faucets etc????
Comments (4)I was told by a saleslady at my high end plumbing showroom not to mix faucet finishes. I think if you start paging throught kitchen idea books you will see that the finishes on multiple faucets in a kitchen are all the same. It is ok to mix in finishes on other items such as hardware and lighting, but you should have something to unify the different finishes....See MoreHelp! brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze hardware in my kitchen?
Comments (12)Is there a reason to buy the hardware before cabinets and counters are installed... then you can buy a sample of orb and nickel (... or, and chrome) hardware you like, and hold them up to your cabinets in your kitchen to select the finish you like best with your other choices? we spent a week or two at the very end of our remodel opening the drawers and doors from the edges (without handles/knobs/hardware), while we ordered samples, picked our final hardware from the samples, then waited for the whole kitchen hardware order to be delivered. It was not a big deal to use the kitchen with bare doors for that time......See MoreDo oil rubbed bronze doorknobs go with brushed nickel cabinet hardware
Comments (8)I am dealing with this right now! We chose brushed nickel because getting matte black everywhere would cost like $7k(this would include all doors, lighting and kitchen/bathroom fixtures); our builder does offer brushed bronze for like $500 for everything. I don't like ORB personally so didn't want to get it just to get it. I do know people are mixing metals A LOT these days. Black matte with champagne brass or ORB with brushed nickel. We plan to change the guest bathrooms to matte black everything; yet the rest of our home will be brushed nickel, as far as the other doors and light fixtures(until we get the mooshie moosh to change them). Unless, everything is all the same throughout your home, mixing metals is going to happen. Exterior does not have to match interior. I would treat these as completely different spaces in regard to fixtures and or color choice(psst, black matte exterior/brush nickel interior for us because this is affordable at this time due to financial restraints). Will post pics in 1/2 months when completed. So, I guess the real question here is, do YOU like the look of mixed metals? :D...See MoreSarah Pierce
