Any way to make a gray paint look less-blue?
Comments (15)Thanks all! I did go back to the store and have them mess with the color a bit. I think I'm going to like the new color better (I did a quick test splotch) but I don't think I'm going to have enough for a full second coat. I'm actually using this in 2 different rooms so I'll probably use what I have left in one room and figure something out for the other. Sorry it took me so long to respond -- gardenweb was giving me guff when I tried to log in....See MoreHELP!!! BM Classic Grey looks BABY BLUE!
Comments (7)I think he just tinted primer for better coverage since it was going over gold. Maybe he was going to try and only have to do 1 coat plus tinted primer, but he is going to do 2 coats. Benjamin Moore said that tinted primer may show more blue then the regular paint so I am hoping that gets rid of some of the undertone ice blue that I am seeing. I did put the original sample board next to the paint and it does match up. Good news is that when I put my white cabinet door next to the paint on walls, it gets rid of that blue tone. I am thinking that maybe my old dove white trim is working against the paint and it will be fine when the brighter white trim goes up. Here are the photos: Also do you think Calcutta Gold Quartz will work? It seemed like it also worked when I put it near paint....See MoreMindful gray looks blue
Comments (28)We loved the Blue Tahoe when we picked it out but it’s been challenging finding the right paint to go with it. My original plan was to go walnut on the island but I changed my mind at the last minute and I regret it. I needed to write that so I can let it go. I suppose if money and time were not an object I would replace the island and do the walnut but I’m not going to do that just not because of the reasons above but also because it feels wasteful and I’m committed to making it work and loving it...See MoreWhat color paint to make grey/blue carpet look more blue?
Comments (12)Thanks everyone! The major piece of furniture is a medium/french blue sectional that I love, and it does bring out the blue in the rug, and a dark grey media cabinet. My dilemma was do I go with a greyish/blue paint, which was my first impulse, and suggested by many of you, or a warm white with more "orange" undertones since the orange is opposite blue on the color wheel and would therefore potentially enhance the blue in the rug. But I definitely don't want the walls to look orange. Can't do photos yet as it is early in the construction phase- just framed out. Thanks for the lighting concern, I will have at least one lamp down there, but we are investing in high end recessed so it should be pleasant, and not like a garage or workroom. I also understand that other design elements will make a big difference, but we are talking about 1100 sq ft of carpeting so it will be a dominant part of the design. Just looking at swatches (carpet swatch next to paint swatch) I like BM Beacon grey... but am concerned it will read baby blue once up on the walls......See MoreRelated Professionals
