Comments (25)I think the shutters is a regional thing. I live in CA, most houses are newer ranch style. The majority have shutters on them and they are ALL decorative! I never knew what functional shutters looked like until I joined this forum. I think for people on the East Coast with the older homes and real shutters they will never look quite right, but for here, in my area, they are typical of the majority of homes you will see. Sort of like crown molding or other trim, purely for decorative purposes only. FWIW, when we remodeled our home we removed the wood siding and shutters and stuccoed the home and used decorative foam stucco trim....See Morewindow trim exterior need advice
Comments (3)IMO you wait until you do the rest and then see what is needed . You do not have any space for proper shutters IMO so no to them. Comments (11)hi Maureen, thank you for this photo. I have been looking at plenty of inspiration photos and know that I want the house more off-white than white. Just unsure which paint color is going to give me that look best, especially knowing white paint looks different in different lights. I really like the photo you shared. Is the door Boothbay gray? We just painted our office Boothbay gray, and it's really pretty. For the garage, we currently have it white. I don't see why we couldn't leave it white.
