Comments (26)This is a totally different idea, but I wanted to mention it because I recently rediscovered my immersion blender. I wanted something I could take out of town with me that was small and easy to pack, and...I know this would sound odd to some...offered a little bit of ''help'' in case I decided I wanted to bake. (A readily-available kitchen is a good thing.) Anyway, I realized my immersion blender (Kitchen Aid) had a whip attachment (like a miniature hand-mixer) that I'd never used. Eureka! Of course I had to try it out, and it works beautifully. If your friend doesn't have one, she would probably love it for blending soups, making smoothies or chopping things. The best part is they're not terrible expensive. (FYI; maybe not for now, but for the future.)...See MoreWhat is Cooking This Weekend in Your Kitchen
Comments (41)I made breakfast when I got home this morning. It was a typical Sunday breakfast, which is bigger than normal as it is usually SOs only day off of the week. Rice, scrambled egg with cheese, homemade heart shaped biscuits, bacon, sausage, and fried potatoes for SO, just a piece of bacon and 2 scrambled eggs for me. Stopped on the way to work got a rotisserie chicken and some brocolli. I will eat some of the white meat and give the rest of the chicken to the little stray cats around here. SO says he will be in later(he comes through my workplace in order to do his job) and if he does,I'll make him either a chicken sandwich or a fish sandwich, his choice, and probably some fries to take with him when he goes. I bought him a pack of Grandmas peanut butter cookies on the way to go with it....See MoreWhat is Cooking in Your Kitchen ?
Comments (42)Hope you're feeling better soon, Raven. Those look delicious, Shambo. Today, we will be making snacks to eat while watching the big 49er vs Packers football game today. We are having spicy red pepper hummus and tabouli purchased from the local farmers market. They will be served with pita chips. We also have tortilla chips and salsa. Some of the leftover pizza from the other night is going to be cut up into squares and crisped up on a cast iron skillet. I am calling these pizza bites. Along with that, we will have a small fruit platter (apple, cherries, raspberries, pineapple and avocado. Not only are the above snacks for the game, they are also going to be considered our dinner....See MoreWhat Is Cooking in Your Kitchen ?
Comments (49)Well, tonight I had one of those, for me, quite rare flashes of brilliance. I was getting ready to make my roasted chicken in my graniteware roaster like I have hundreds of times. Problem with it is that even when I spray it and then put in olive oil, chicken inevitably sticks. So I was getting the chicken out of the fridge and happened on a bunch of collard greens I meant to cook a week ago. They were a little dried out but not too bad. Light bulb - I lined the bottom of the roaster with the greens. Not only did the chicken not stick but the greens tasted pretty darn good!...See MoreMarilyn Sue McClintock
