Need Help with my Backyard Design
Comments (0)Hi, we just moved into a new-build house. The backyard is roughly 50ft wide by 40ft deep. Our house faces west, and our house is a fairly tall 2-storey home. So our backyard is sunny all morning then is shadowed by the house by the end of the day. Along the back of our house we have a large patio door and a window from our great room. We really want to install a deck, some kind of screened-in gazebo structure (mosquitoes are bad at night), add a 8x12ft shed, and four 4x4ft raised bed vegetable planters. We don't want the gazebo attached or adjacent to the house because it would block light into our windows. We've put together a plan (see attached drawing) and I'm hoping to get some advice from the houzz community. We've essentially put all the main structures along the north fenceline and I'm worried that the space may not look "balanced". What do you think? Any advice?? Thanks in advance! Comments (2)you have a lot of space to work with. The main thing driving it is your budget. why don't you call in a landscape designer and see what they come up with? you could have anything back there replacing the sliders w/somethng like this, and a wood deck this is a front, but you could apply it to the back too. deck w/steps, and large flagstone pavers. BTW, Hows the front? here are some ideas for that. (if you've ever thought about painting the brick, look into all natural Romabio)...See MoreHey guys! I really need help designing my backyard setup
Comments (3)You'd probably need to show the view in each direction. (Stand at center of the yard and take slightly overlapping photos of a 360*view -- without changing camera locations between any pictures.) And you probably need to show an outward bound view of 3/4 of the yard as taken from the patio center. (Again, in slightly overlapping pictures while the photographer does not change locations, but pivots.) And you'l need to show as close up as you can get of the yard from Google Satellite....See MoreHelp design my backyard lower deck & firepit
Comments (8)You have a great space to work with and lots of options and depending on budget. I would agree that the side yard would probably not be the best spot for the fire pit but you could go more towards the middle of the yard. As thus would be your lower level less maintenance would be composite lumber ir patio stone. The fire pit idea you had would look great towards the middle of the yard just consider wind in your area and if a wall for wind blocking may be needed. Adding some other inspo pictures for you including side yard (think entrance to your backyard space). The one with the all stone backyard think the main attraction of the fire pit in the middle and thou could keep grass in any of the other areas you want. Take favorite design and functional pieces and mesh them together to something you love is the thought and tweekig colors etc to keep them coordinated. Can't wait to see it and let me know if you want any further inspo or input!...See Moremariam chuks-orji
