Hi pupwhipped. We live in an old home and when we renovated the kitchen, we purchased the individual tounge and groove beadboard for a couple of accent spots (under the breakfast bar and above the vent hood). I wanted a specific species of wood (birch) so when we stained it, it would match our cabinets. We live in a small rural town, so choices are somewhat limited. I ended up getting it at vintage woodworks online. The link is below. If it helps anyone, they have about 18 species of wood, three widths and you can order whatever lengths you want. Do you want to cover the knots in the wood or do you want them to show through the paint?

sheesharee - Thanks for the offer but I called Home depot and they have some paintable wallpaper in stock that is puffy, so i can get the idea. Also, Southerns website showed a good photo of the product before painted. igloochic - My kitchen needs to be lightened up, so the stained look would not be for me. I think your idea would work, though. That would be a neat and different project for someone to take on. A study, maybe? :) Thanks lyban! I am bored...that's why! lol No, I just thought it would add a little texture to the space, that's all. All this hype on the paintable beadboard projects sparked my interest. I, so far, have not had to clean the backsplash in my kitchen. I guess I am a neat cooker. Even the mirror stays clean for the most part. The other area doesn't even get food near it unless I am serving a buffet. tinam61 - We don't have any wallpaper either, and I swore I would never have it again! lol However, I don't have the tools or the know-how to cut the wood. The wallpaper seems like an easier project.

I love the look. I already have beadboard all over my kitchen, so that probably would have been overkill to put it on my ceiling as well. BUT I still would have loved loved LOVED it. Hubby, having to be the one to put it up, would probably disagree. LOL. Pinchme has beadboard wallpaper on her ceiling that looks like the real stuff. With the missing threads, it may be hard to find it. I'll take a look and find it for you, if I can. Sandyponder, where can I see the rest of your kitchen? It looks so charming!
