Need ideas on kitchen layout & I need your ideas :)
Comments (4)We definitely need a plan with dimensions. My first thought is to put the fridge & freezer on opposite ends of that back wall with the range centered between them. You'll want a pot filler, but it shouldn't be a problem as there's already water there for the fridge. Put the microwave and warming drawer in the island, and leave the sink where it is. This way you don't need to move any walls, or mess with the floors if you don't want to. And I would definitely remove that crazy soffit over the island! :-)...See Morepretty up the lady.....need advice on house colors! (pics)
Comments (21)Yum yum! I love the sound of your new colors. Actually, of all your colors. First I want to doublecheck with you about whatever color you choose for your eaves: in your first post you write that the current "grandma green" fades away. While I love a black watch green I think it will fade even more into your eaves. I think it could also highlight the black in your roof shingles. I know your first choices (straw, rust) seem v. bright but that's partly because you're unused to them. Anything over time loses its pop! And yes, the straw and rust are brighter than your current colors ("grandma green" and dark brown). That being said, your current color combination (which is on your house) is more sedate but does not draw attention to the windows / doors. Is that something you want to do? To draw attention to the windows / doors? Okay, as mad as I am for the green, what do you think about painting the addition's siding the rust color and then also using it (the rust) for your eaves? Or painting the addition and under the eaves the dark brown (the dark brown you currently have on your windows)? That way you don't have to change anything other than the siding / eaves. Or, just painting the eaves the dark brown and leaving the siding that pretty pink? Rereading your posts I'm getting the feel that you want to both play up the eaves as well as distract your eye from the new roof (which you dislike but which I think looks great). Before you purchase any more paint, let's think about what you're really after so you don't have to paint any more (or any less) to get what will make you happier about your beautiful lady!...See MoreNEED wall protection ideas for kitchen chairs...
Comments (5)Is it getting scuffed or is the drywall getting damage? The scuffs can be handled by the right paint (try BM Scuff X) but damage will be hard to control unless you change sizes or use something kind of ugly like clear plexiglass attached to the wall. Or I guess you could tile as you would a backsplash, but I also think that would look odd. Don't try a texture paint, that will just chip all over the place....See MorePretty up my entry!
Comments (33)btydrvn- thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate your input! The raised porch/deck idea sounds interesting, I’ll run it by my husband this weekend. There’s a bit of an overhang (the correct term?🤷🏻♀️) as you walk into the entryway so I’m not sure if the lower clearance would be an issue but we’ll bust out the tape measure😊 Thanks for bringing up settling/drainage issues. Drainage is actually something we plan to address if we redo the walkway entirely since there are 3 downspouts all within 12ft of each other along that front area. A possible solution we came across was burying them to divert under to the other side of the island (if we keep it & create a low retaining wall around it). Haha, so replacing the old shutters (“shudders”? Lol) instead of doing away with them was 100% my preference. I just love them & the pop of blue they bring. If I change my mind in the future, it’ll be easy to take down but for now they stay😁...See MoreRelated Professionals
