Orange stains - should I seal our grout?
Comments (4)Bill and Mongoct, Thanks for your responses! I tend to think it's not a ventilation issue since we have a timer that leaves the fan on for 30 minutes after someone has turned off the lights and left the bathroom. The fan cfms was sized properly for the room. Also, the orange stains seem to be concentrated in two places: 1) the floor directly below and around the shower head and 2) underneath the shampoo/conditioner bottles - they're sitting on the floor because I still haven't installed the metal toiletry baskets :-( FYI, I was able to remove all of the stains using a toothbrush and Simple Green cleaner. I think I'll install the baskets, get the bottles off the shower floor and switch toiletry products as a first step....See MoreMapei vs custom grout- to seal or not to seal grout?
Comments (5)We use both brands and have never had an issue. Usually comes down to color - or where we purchase our tile. Sealers are always a good idea - as long as you are using a penetrating sealer - not a film. Sealers need to be re-applied periodically. If you use the area daily, then you may need to reseal every 6 months. Not as much usage - the sealer will last longer. But do not count on sealers to prevent stains - they will help keep it looking good longer, but you can still stain sealed grout....See MoreShould building contractor Seal Grout?
Comments (3)No. You should use grout that doesn’t need sealing in the first place. What waterproofing system does the builder use in wet areas? https://www.ceramictilefoundation.org/homeowners-guide-to-hiring-qualified-tile-installer...See MoreShould I seal the grout?
