Please help Lazy Susan corner cabinet or Blind Corner Cabinet
Comments (69)Lisa - two KD people that I have spoken to said that the voided corner does not provide wider drawers on either side. What am I missing? Nothing as far as I can tell because what they are telling you makes no sense to me at all. If you don't give up 12" of linear space to a Susan, you gain 9" of drawer width (3" goes to spacer at corner). I considered adding a BCC to my sink corner (didn't have space on sink side to do corner Susan) but opted not to because a) it wasn't the right kind of storage for that corner and b) a drawer base was cheaper storage than a BCC. Here's my corner. Drawers & trash pull-outs open. If I had done a BCC, I would have lost the bank of drawers on the right. If I'd had room for a corner Susan, I would have lost 27" of much needed drawer storage. The few items that I would have been able to store in a BCC (ditto for a corner Susan) ended up in a a single drawer in a much roomier cab next to my wall oven. I use the items in the drawers in my prep zone much more regularly than the items I use in the drawer by my oven. A few extra steps now and then is a much better option than extra steps several times a day, IMO. Look at the whole picture when it comes to storage. What you decide for one area affects storage in another. It's a domino effect, IME....See MoreDishwasher Next to Corner Cabinet-90 or Blind?
Comments (0)Hello Helpful Folks, I am remodeling a house built in 1890 thus the layout is unique. I hired a kitchen designer but the individual came up with an idea that would not work in that house due to plumbing and foundation. The dishwasher needs to be next to a corner cabinet-my choices are blind or 90 degree. I prefer 90 degree as I think it more useful and would allow two cabinets next two it, one of which would be dedicated to trash/recycle. Any thoughts on which is better? If I do 90 degree-which way should cabinet hinge? FYI-I used Ikea kitchen planner but am getting Barker Cabinets. Thank you...See MoreKitchen corner sink cabinet organization
Comments (8)You know that YouTube is our best friend -- here's a great link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJShOM0Pxws . Specific thoughts: - Not gonna lie -- it's 11 minutes of your life that you'll never get back, and it could've been 5 minutes. We didn't need to see her assemble the sliding shelves. Her finished product, though, is great! - In her case, her big problem was that the garbage disposal was "front and center" hogging all the space. I can only assume this is true for all corner sinks? She worked around it well, but it seems to me that she could've added a storage bucket BEHIND the garbage disposal; this could've been for unopened cleaners (I can't be the only person who falls for the B3GOFs). - Key to her project are two sets of sliding shelves -- they seem to be a great fit for her project. If I were her, I would've used one of the sliding shelves for the trash bags, which -- as she says -- are a constant-use item. - She keeps all kind of cleaners under her sink. Personally, I would've kept wood cleaner, etc. elsewhere. - I like the grocery-bag container and how she attached it on an edge. - If I were her, I would've put some hooks on the back of the doors for the rubber gloves and scrubber....See MoreHas anyone retrofitted a LeMans blind corner pullout in IKEA cabinet?
Comments (16)It's not attached to the door, and it swings, then pulls out. Of course Ikea doesn't actually say that, because it would be helpful, and they can't have their website encouraging people to buy things. Here's a Video, it's installation, but I have it set to once he's pulling it out. (Not the best install video, either- there is a hole so that it's on the bottom of the cabinet, he apparently just didn't see it, per another install video)....See MoreKristin S
