DR - tole trays flanking main art?
Comments (26)Like Palimpsest stated I don't think that it's the type of space that is so formal that it has to be 'done'. I guess my thought w/ the ironstone was that it was something that could grow to accommodate the space inexpensively and then when you find that perfect 'WOW' piece you can hang it there and group the ironstone elsewhere as it's own thing somewhere. Some of your older ironstone is much more creamy than the stark white that you see so often. I just bought a piece off of my mom last weekend that's almost brown around the edges and super creamy towards the middle. I'm not an ironstone expert though. I also like how the varying shades of white combine to create a really nice visual flow. I thought that since the the ironstone would be one color it wouldn't compete w/ your very pretty picture....See MoreIs this artwork too big?
Comments (10)Definitely not too big -- I think the size is great. I would not add anything else to this wall, though. Let that big painting make its intended impact. The gold frame is fine; you don't need to match the furniture, in fact it's much more interesting when you don't. Would you consider layering in some other colors in this room? Some soft, muted blues or lavenders might be nice, and you could simply switch out a couple of throw pillows or sling a cuddly throw over the sofa to bring in a bit more interest....See MoreArt Art Art! ART WORK that is!
Comments (70)I tried to post and found all my air-dropped files were in a format that would not post. Will have to find time to redo them. But my art is so different -- some "fine" and a lot of contemporary and folk art. This was the only one that worked and I took it down towait, but in case I don't make it back (I am behind on an 8 week course and trying to get caught up) -- this will be my one contribution. This is titled Angels from Above and was painted in response to the attack on 9/11. It hangs in my LR where I have an Americana folk piece, a new still life that may not have found its permanent home and some other contemporary art. It's an eclectic grouping with the link being rich saturated colors. The sofa is midnight velvet and the chairs are natural linen, both treated as neutrals. The background is an inset above the mantle that was painted for another painting when this was in DR. It isn't terrible with the painting, but were painted the walls and now I want to pick a new color for the inset and different painting....See MoreJeff Smith
