I’m a little late to this board, but we used Repose in our old house that we sold. We used It as a whole house color inside and it turned out very pretty. It does reflect a little different in each room bc of windows and lighting. That house was 1600 sq ft, the dining room was very small and it looked great in there, made the room look much larger. All of that said, we just finished painting our current dining room in Repose today. We covered red walls. The first coat I noticed a lot of green undertones, and the color looked much darker. We have the second coat on and it’s pretty, but I’m not feeling like it looks as grey as it did at the other house. Depending on where you stand in the room, it looks grey, greige, or more tannish looking, I don’t know if the mix was off a little or if it’s just the lighting of the room. It is north facing, which is apparently not the best place to put Repose. I’m going to see how it looks in a couple of days and may try another grey.

I know this was a month ago but wanted to share my experience. I had mindful gray throughout my downstairs except on an accent wall. Because I have a charcoal sectional, I felt that mindful gray was just too dark for me so I repainted in repose gray. Both are muddy colors in my house depending on the time of day. Usually mornings, they are a nice crisp neutral gray but by evening, they are more taupe gray. On the second part of my stairway it’s mindful gray on both sides and I don’t feel it’s too dark but i still want to eventually lighten it to repose as well. The bottom of the stairs you can see where i didn’t finish painting. One wall is mindful the other is repose. Here’s a pic of my wall with two different shades. Excuse the horrible pic. Not your desired response but the swap of counter and backsplash to light choices along w already light floors would accomplish nearly all your goal of a less dark kitchen. I’d absolutely do that wait on the expensive cabinet paint aspect. Walls can wait It’s just paint.

The closest color in Sherwin-Williams in terms of luminance (Value and LRV) is a new Emerald Designer Collection color. Agreeable Gray is closer in terms of hue but it's a slightly darker color. You don't have to know what the color notations in the table mean to compare and understand the similarity.
