It appears that the placement of the fireplace forces it to serve as the foyer. Perhaps a small round pedestal game table and a pair of straight upholstered chairs could do double duty out in front of it. Add a pretty bouquet when guests are expected. The stairwell end looks to be where the TV would have to go, as the DR doorway leaves no wall for it at the other end. That end can be your conversation area with a small sofa under the draped window and 1-2 small chairs gathered near it. For watching TV at the other end, you might consider simply using a pair of comfy TV chairs, assuming there are only two of you living here. Depending on TV size, you might consider setting it on a credenza against the stairwell and hiding the gear in the closet, which I assume is under the stairs and accessed from elsewhere. Or you can use a bench against the stairwell wall. If there are more than 2 of you, consider if there is another room in the home that would suit as a family room.

A nice fuzzy throw in a strong color and a few pillow or accents in that color could make a world of difference. I am wondering if there is a way to lighten up (visually speaking) the big heavy tv/bookcases. Just a few idea pics from different styles. The top one is a leather couch and the throw makes it warm enough for the rest of the room. The center one is nice--might be the closest to your possible layout. The bottom one shows how a nice strong ottoman would work ---but since you plan to recline I guess a side table would be better. A couple console ideas if you put it against the window.....lots of different styles around....

yes, if you have 57in tv, need larger console...darn it. I think teal and blues can look awesome. I think gold accents would work great as a pallet. gold legs on a tv console, you have gold in your art above the fireplace too

IMO ditch the media cabinet for sure it is dated , heavy looking and takes up valuable space in that room . BTW the sectional is too big for the space but at least if you remove the media cabinet it will not look so out of place . Get a lonfg low cabinet wall hang the TV so that the middle of the screen is at eye level. I do not like rugs in DRS , get those horrible blinds off the windows and use the drapes for privacy BTW they need to twice as full as you have them, Get rid of the beach house sign get a light that lights the dining table not the ceiling . You lots of space in the DR have you considered switchnig the LR and DR. Do you use the DR every day ? I need to see a to scale floor plan of those spaces
