I just picked up the stripped-down chairs from the upholsterer. They look so naked. Now I have to choose a gray paint that works with the fabric. I have a quart of fairly dark gray in the basement that I may try. I'll solicit opinions when I get some painted on the chairs. gingerjenny, my trim color is the same BM soft chamois that I used in the rest of the house. I have enough trouble picking wall colors without switching trim colors too! : ) chitown, that map is great...huge! I may need to go see it in person. I haven't mentioned the map idea to DH yet. My goal was to pull this room together with stuff we already have and I've already bought new bookcases and am getting chairs re-done. I don't know if the map idea will make him cranky. I guess I should at least TRY to use art that we already own. Or not. We'll see. runninginplace, the bookshelves are Hemnes. I look at both these and the Billys. Billys are less expensive, but I liked that these were wood and looked a little more sturdy and finished. Plus they have leg levelers which come in handy on our old crooked floors. I got an email today that my curtain rods have shipped!! It's all pulling together. Yay!

It doesn't look like you have a ton of storage space in your kitchen. I would put in a pantry cabinet, either in a wood tone to match the cabinets, or white. If you don't need the storage, artwork on the wall would perk it up a lot!

Sure, a hutch, a coffee station, or a bar would all be possible. Good lord, Victoria Joan. I would never have guessed that English was not your first language! I wish I were as adept in a second language as you are. I'm not familiar with a "window wall decor". Do you mean creating the impression of a window on the left side of the bed by hanging a window and drapes there to match the right side? As before, I think you need to hang your drapes before making any other decisions. You might try doing that and then return to this post with a new picture and Houzzers can help you again. The drapes will have a major impact on your space and we really need to see them up to advise you well. One thing I think is to be done right after hanging the drapes: you definitely need taller nightstands and lamps with more visual weight. Can you see how small they look next to your bed? They are out of proportion to the size of the bed. Here's some advice from furniture.com "In general, it is easier to raise your arms than to lower them when you are in bed. With that in mind, the rule of thumb is to have your nightstand level with the top of the mattress or within two to six inches higher." Also, simply putting larger or taller lamps on the small nightstands may not help the proportions. If you have a table lamp in another part of the house that is larger than your current ones in the bedroom, try placing it on the nightstand temporarily. That will show you how successful just buying larger lamps may or may not be.
