I sew pillows for a living - this is how to get the tapered corners and eliminate the "dog ear" pillows; Cut your square pillow as you normally would in whatever size you want. Measure from the corner tip along each side and mark the 1" mark and 2" mark with chalk or pins. Take a straight ruler (is there any other kind??) and draw a line from the two inch mark on one side to the 1" mark on the other side. Do the same with the other markings on the opposite side. You should now have a "x" just below the corner tip. This is your new sewing ling and your "dog ears" will disappear! I hope this helps!

There is a waterproof spray for tents but it doesn't make it like laminating it just makes it waterproof. I don't think it would be good for chair pads, because it would break down if you put any kind of soap on them so you couldn't wash them. I don't think they make anything like you asked about unless it's a sewable plastic and fabric stores sell it for mattress pads. Then there's PUL which has a plastic like inner lining and a cloth outer. They use it for diapers. Why would you want to coat them anyway--they're washable and dryable and fluff up nicely if you add a tennis ball to the dryer. If you have young kids the. make a slip cover for them or take them off of the kids chairs. I take them off my chairs when my grandsons are eating. With all the wiggling around they do I was afraid of them falling off the chairs.

Thanks for the replies. Roarah, the color of the couch is anout the same as the darker color of the chairs. I tried with a similar color and it did nothing for the chairs. I'm looking for a pop of color. I think the pattern in the chairs is what the problem is, nothing seems to go with such a design. Palmimpset, great site, thanks for the link. Seventeen inches should come about to your shoulder blades. Well they would mine anyway. That's not bad but for the fact that the lumbar pillows are 20 inches wide. The seat cushions are 22 inches wide. I tried pairing some up using Paint, but gave up when the pillow sizes were mostly smaller than the lumbar pillows. This is one reason I make my own. So much easier to buy the fabric, filler and just sew them in the sizes I need.
