Comments (11)Thanks for the suggestions. We are getting closer. We took at look at the additional suggestions (SW Blonde, Ivorie and BM Shelburne Buff HC 28) but they didn't make the cut for what we are looking for. The good news is I think we are down to two (or at least that is all my DW wants to deal with at this point): BM Precious Ivory 185 (a little tan and slightly darker) and BM Soleil AF-330 (a little sunny). The Precious Ivory probably does have a better chance of complementing some of the ubatuba highlights, but I like the 'sunny' part of Soleil, especially since we have little direct light into our kitchen. Oh, and there might be some BM Popcorn Kernel 310 in there but I can't tell if the kids like the color or the name....See MoreGE Profile Black Stainless vs GE Cafe Black Slate??
Comments (2)The matte black Cafe color is very different from stainless. I don't know if it is actually the same as the "black slate" in the other GE brands. In any case, it has a lovely, flat look -- it doesn't have the glossy coat or the brushed metal grain of stainless. It's also IMO morea deep gray than black. I haven't had the range all that long, so I don't know about real longevity, but it seems tough! Mine does have a little scratch, but it's associated with a pretty serious dent (i.e. it took a lot of force to make the scratch)....See MoreBosch Black Stainless Steel or regular Stainless with GE Slate?
Comments (12)I should have said although we have a mid-high quality 'stainless' stove and fridge - the finish stains. It easily gets stains (not dints or scratches) that do not come out. Concentrated cleaning only leads to permanent degradation of the finish. "Stainless" sinks and countertops seem to be the exception because they scratch up overtime to develop a butler's patina. I hate any stainless finish on appliances. It is a gross trend that has got out of hand....See MoreMixing hardware finishes matte black with matte white?
