Comments (15)That closeup helps me see what you have now. Frankly, I think it would look better if the roof wrapped across in front of the dormer and you only had a half-sized window there. The way it is now looks funny to me. I'm not sure I've ever seen a dormer quite like that before. I don't know where you're getting your windows from but, if you talk with them, I suspect you'll find that you can get an awning window that is exactly the size of the upper half of your double-hungs and they CAN also put vertical "lites" in it that match those in the top half of your other windows. Most windows these days have "simulated divided lites" anyway and you can have them put in where-ever you want them. Nobody does real divided lites anymore. Too much opportunity for air and water leakage. A casement with vertical simulated-divided-lites might be considered a "custom" window instead of a standard size - but hopefully ONE custom window won't break the bank. And if it'll make DS happy.... I don't think a half-sized window would look odd at all in that spot. It looks like you're also not putting a pediment over that one window or shutters around it. So it is going to be different from the others anyway. It'll look great as long as it blends stylistically with them. I think making it the same size as the upper HALF of your double-hungs and having the same "lites" will make it blend in quite nicely. Just be sure you specify that you want the casement window to have the same dimensions as the upper sash of your double-hungs and have the same lite pattern....See MoreInnovative way to hang towels?
Comments (8)hi there i have a few ideas (which still may not be what your looking for ) but here goes.. 1# i have,in my kitchen, a toilet paper holder that i use to hang up my hand towels... hey its a unique decorative piece nobody knows its for toilet paper SEE PICTURE LINK #2 for bath towels how about a towel warmer stand(unless there is no room ) or the above idea might also work for bath towels #3 or an over the door towel hanger --but may not look like the best decorative option good luck with your project... Comments (15)Shanghaimom and Christine- If my setup was like yours, I would definitely put the towel rack on the back of the door, but the back of the door of the toilet room seems out of the way and I don't think I want to hang a towel rack on the front of the toilet room door, although it is always open. Babka, what a good idea of hanging a "dummy" towel hook on the right with a towel. I have one more idea I might try before I order another towel hook. I might be able to cushion the bottom hook that holds the towel with foam on the end of the hook and tie it in place. The towel would always cover the foam! I just don't know how the foam will hold up or if it will fall off. It would probably hold the towel better. HaHa Maybe I should have bought one of those train rack shelves and put deep bath towels on top?...See MoreMaster Bath Towels--What to do with them
Comments (18)I have a train rack with shelves and hooks. Towels in use are on the hooks, towels that are clean are stacked on top. I also have hooks just outside the shower, for towels to reach for when stepping out. Sometimes DH leaves a towel there, but it doesn't look bad because I placed the hook well (design wise). I installed all of my towel bars, train rack and hooks as well as mirrors etc. Only one was a bit lose after using the appropriate fasteners for the wall area (ie different if you're going into a stud verses drywall only). The lose one is a glass shelf. I had to take it down and use a better wall anchor than the one it came with (I don't ever use the plastic ones....you can buy lovely metal ones by the box). I am not a neetnick by any sense of the imagination, but if DH left a towel hanging on the glass door I'd consider spousal abuse. I didn't build an elegant master bath t have it look like a gym. If the towel bars are wonky...it's a VERY easy fix, which you can do yourself, and recapture the lovely room :)...See MoreTara
