Urgent floor tile layout help needed
Comments (3)For the bathroom, lay them from the door to opposite the door, just as one would walk in (in a typical bathroom where you enter at one end). If you enter in the middle or have an odd layout, I'd have them go the same direction as the vanity counter runs. For the kitchen, I'd go the same direction as the cabs and the counters. Across would feel choppy....See MoreTile floor layout help
Comments (4)We did a brick pattern in ours! We have the standard 12x12 throughout our house and it is a little boring, so we decided on the brick pattern. Like you, we felt that the 12x12 diamond pattern was a little too busy, and 18x18 was pushing it size-wise since our kitchen is pretty small. Unfortunately I don't have a full shot of the kitchen but here is a shot of the tiles:...See MoreNew York Greenwich tile....need help with shower tile and tub surround
Comments (0)Has anyone ever used this tile in their home. I'm using it for a bathroom floor and wondered if a white matte subway tile would match the floor. The subway tiles will also continue around the tub as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....See MoreHELP awkward layout surrounded by doors
Comments (3)I think maybe a long buffet-type storage piece under the window -- if you go for more cabinet than drawers, you can keep tons of stuff in there. Then you just have to commit to something with the space where your current desk is -- go with a full desk + chair (with some colorful art over it), and make it a cozy place you want to work; or switch to something like a bookcase + reading chair + floor lamp, so it's a spot somebody could plop for a little quiet. I'd be tempted to set up a little vignette under the stairs -- maybe some colorful baskets, or a couple of tall vases or something. Someday a pile of cushions could make that a prime kid hangout too. The space at the base of the stairs is always going to feel wasted -- you can't really fill in the middle of it because there are too many directions of passage there. I might look for a couple of colorful bowls or a long banner to hang on the middle of that triple column divider -- something that would make you happy seeing it as you passed through. That and one functional zone on the side is about all you can do....See MoreLora Strine
