Have You Ever Seen a Tartan Pool Table?
Comments (30)Update--- ID and I spoke at length about this very issue last night. We did a budget assessment and are even farther out there than I realized. So, this is his view, that if the table was a cherished heirloom or a valuable antique of any provenance, or "even if it was just really nice looking" he would love it upholstered in the tartan. At $120 per yard shipped cost to me, with extra for rails because of the repeat (and we are pretty sure the pool table guy has never heard or dealt with a repeat), the fabric alone would cost around $800. He said he would rather have that money back in the pot for accessories, especially if someday in the not too distant future that table will end up for sale for $150 at the Christian Women's Center thrift shop. He's right, This is a CL Bailey oak table and I guess the tartan would be the teensiest bit over the top :-( But still....hmph!...See MoreClips on curtain rods for tartan plaid curtains...
Comments (17)3apples - Are you purchasing your fabric from one of the Scottish mills or are you able to find your tartan through a regular fabric source? Some of the more common ones (like royal Stewart) are available in different fabrics. If you're purchasing your wool from one of the Scottish mills the clan tartans come in different weights and a few come in three: 11 oz, 13 oz and 17 oz.. It might help to consider the overall weight of the finished panel and the lining when deciding how to hang them. There is a real skill in sewing tartan -not just to get the pleats correct and to make sure they hang properly but how the fabric is folded has an impact on how the finished plaid looks. A good workroom should be able to advise you. I purchased my tartan in silk and had a waistcoat made for my son to wear beneath his tux jacket when he married and his attendants had matching silk ties. Silk might not be the look you want but the fabric is beautiful. The woodwork in your library is beautiful and I hope you post finished photos....See MoreBuffalo plaid decor
Comments (23)I like a changeable feast. Take the room below, add one big lumbar pillow in a gray and brown plaid to the bed. Then, change the snow to spring green outside that window.......and change nothing but the bedding. To crisp WHITE LINEN. So. I think I made my point : ) don't get carried away. Comments (67)In my heading I wrote... would you buy again and are you happy with the quality. This is an update on the kids Splendid brand tee shirt. No, I would not buy again. I think thirty some dollars for a kids Tee is pricey. I did it though because I wanted a more substantial cotton. I mean, I don't know if this is a developing 9yr old or not and didn't want flimsy see- thru-ish. It came wadded up in a bag and although cute it is a ripoff for the price. I could have gone to Old Navy and spent $7.00. Cute but over priced....See Morefunctionthenlook
